Lynette I am keeping everything crossed for you and that you will get to see an osprey in the wild. You will be filled with awe and joy to see as I was when I saw Odin for real at LG.
Margobird
Another pleasant morning spent at Rutland Water. When I got there 5R and the 3 juveniles were visible. Mrs 5R had apparently left Manton Bay earlier in the day. Great flying displays from all 3 juvies before one of them went off with a partly eaten fish. After a while 5R went off on a fishing mission we presumed. He had not returned by the time I left. 5R had already caught 2 fish this morning between 6 and 7am but despite them being well fed one was constantly food begging.
Also saw my first Marsh Harrier hunting over by the bund. I was reliably informed that it was a juvenile. Very dark bird. Also saw 2 little egrets and a heron.
Just back from MB and for Lynette, and anyone else thinking of going there shortly, I'm delighted to report that all five ospreys are still present and correct.
Lynette hope you enjoy your visit to MB tomorrow - Give us all a post on your experience and as Sandy has just blogged all five birds present so you should see your first Osprey in the wild. Sandy I am sure you thoroughly enjoyed your day at MB even better to view all five across from the hide.
I was out and about todasy and both juveniles at a local loch to me were still present and also saw another at Lochter fishery although this was just visiting for a fish and flew away in to the distance with it. Probably not more opportunities to see many in the Highlands.
Thanks Keith, suffice to say I saw four fish caught by two different ospreys right in front of the hide - not a bad day!
Hope Lynette has as much luck tomorrow.
Thanks Sandy, hope so too, really looking forward to it and the weather forecast is reasonable.

Alan - just seen your stunning pics from yesterday, hope I manage to get some on Wed. Only have a simple Canon 300 power shot but you never know.
Keith - still some juves about then up there, will report on what we see on Thursday as out all day Wed and in the evening too as its OH's birthday and our WA so are celebrating at a local pub who do really nice evening meals.

EDIT: Sorry, having looked through my photos, make that five fish caught by three different ospreys - Mrs caught one along with two from 5R and at least one juvenile managed to catch one as well!

I do hope that Lynette & OH had a wonderful day at Rutland. If my weather (Essex/Cambs border) is anything to go by the morning could have been miserable, but the afternoon is clearing beautifully. Happy WA too!
Very helpful information from Keith Rogers and Lindab. I will bear that in mind. Thank you.
