They must be very well-fed young, because there are two fish on the nest at 9:10pm :-)
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Sandra so wonderful to see chicks at Rutland so well fed there is fish left on the nest. They will probably be eaten for breakfast in the morning unless they think oh not fresh enough. A pleasure and delight to see
All 5 ospreys have been seen in Manton Bay today.
Latest tweet from RW:
"What a morning! 5R delivered two fish to the nest before 7am and the family have since had visits from a raven and two intruding Ospreys!"
Thanks Sandy. That must all have happened before I got there but I did see 4 out of 5 of the family today. One of the juves was on what I call the kingfisher branch behind the nest eating the remains of a fish. He was getting pestered by about 4 magpies so eventually he flew up to the perch beside his dad and continued eating. A little later 5R took exception to a heron in the bay and started dive bombing it. After 3 or 4 sweeps 5R nonchalantly caught a fish and flew with it to the perch beside the telegraph poles and started eating it himself. Unfortunately I had to leave at that point. Other birds of note were 3 green sandpipers an oystercatcher and literally hundreds of coots. It must have been the coots AGM today in Manton Bay. Positively Cootsville.

Surveying the scene:
Alan - thanks for the report and pictures. It makes me feel as if I've been there myself this morning! Love the bit about the coots! The last photo is just so majestic - what beautiful birds they are.
Lynda - I'm not sure we did see Janine last week at Dyfi, however there was one person whose name badge I missed because I was so interested in what she was saying about Nora's arrival that I forgot to look! Thanks for the link to the trip to Africa I really enjoyed reading it. Hope to get down to RW next week.
