Weekly Chat, Sunday January 9, 2010

Busy all day - will catch up tomorrow. Have a good Sunday all (don't forget to check last pages of previous thread. Somebody has been posting photos of puppies again!)

  • Morning all: Just got out of bed (10.00 a.m.) after lolling with book and coffee. Lovely sunny - and warm! - day here. No idea what I'll do or when (apart from Mission rose visit) - but plan on being outdoors as much as possible.

Margobird: Oh my - your sister was up and doing - ironing!!??  Give that woman a medal!  Enjoy your visit with Rhys.

Heron:  Smiled at thought of other frustrated folks wondering where all the screws and nails went.

Lindybird: Are you gargling with warm salt water? Do hope you don't have to postpone visit. I know it sounds awful, but can you wear one of those mask thingies?

Lynette: I remember Toni (correct name?) home perms. My neighbor's daughter used to give us them when we were in our early teens; we'd go and sit in her freezing cold kitchen and smell of that awful neutralizer.  This was all my mother's idea - the worst part was walking around with giant frizzy hairdo for the next three months. I'm sure things have improved dramatically since then.

Thanks to all for chat and pix of fat little robins and perky Phoebe (1 or 2). Am going to go dig up some breakfast and contemplate the day......

  • Hi ALL :)

I guess attempts to remove Lily's collar yesterday weren't successful ... Hope had other ideas :)

Meanwhile, at the FOB Eagle Cam . . .

This was dad minding the egg earlier:

Have you checked out the Osprey Nest Cam at Friends of Blackwater (you can access it from the Eagle Cam page)?  They keep it running year long as this eagle pair and other birds frequent it.  In fact, the eagles were caught mating there yesterday!  Here is a shot of a turkey vulture:

    Happy Friday!

  • Keep getting busy, then it gets late.  Forgive me if I don't read back and make replies - but must just say I loved Alan's Robin photo.

Cleared out built-in cupboard in study yesterday – oh dear, so many old photos to sort through “one day”.  OH dropped something on edge of the guest room bin and it shattered, then at dinner he broke his denture, so this morning had to take that in for repair – now wearing old one which is rather loose!  Will continue “spring-cleaning” the study over the weekend and Monday.  Managed to throw loads of stuff away yesterday, and tonight have been responding to Christmas emails and letters to get them off the “to do” list.

Sorry about lack of joined up thought – can’t continue now – see you soon – take care all and goodnight!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

Annette, I remember them too, but things have improved since then.   I like a tight perm and can then either wash and go or blow dry depending on my mood at the time.  Its so easy to wash'ngo though. My hair is normally straight so having grown it a bit there seems to be a bit of a wave in it.  Still it will be nice to have it done properly instead of cutting it myself!!

Kellogs - love the pics of Lily's den and the eagle cam.  Whenever I bring up the bear cam it is always a fuzzy pic, never mind, at least you can get clear pics of them.

Have a great weekend all and don't do anything I wouldn't do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tonights pics - deer at Pensylvania site, and Phoebe, also the eagle cam - fast asleep.ahhh

  • So glad Diane is taking time to "veg out" with friends.

Margo -How can you be so cruel to his parents, giving Rhys a drum? LOL

For those who haven’t yet finished their C-mas chocs, hurry up. I haven’t seen them myself but there are reports that supermarkets are selling Easter eggs already. Even before Valentines Day!!!

Thursday we had ½ inch of rain here (well, the airport did and we are close by). Some parts of South Aussie had more. The Riverland & South-East had 2-4 inches, hence minor flooding ‘cos the drains can’t cope. Nothing as bad as in Queensland though. Still 60+ missing there. One body was found 80 km (50 miles) from where they were swept away. Some of our local emergency people have gone to provide relief, people are donating clothing & toys. There seems to be a great spirit in QLD for the clean-up with people volunteering to help. The mayor suggested those who want to help to toss a coin - ‘heads’ help in morning, ‘tails’ help in afternoon. Meanwhile summer has arrived in SA, we are expecting 32 C today. Tomorrow is the start of the Tour DownUnder through some of our scenic spots. All those lycra people will now discover if their training was enough. I bet they don’t notice the scenery!

  • AQ  saw Cadburys creme eggs in Tesco yesterday.....didn't buy ..honestly

  • Good morning all and lovely pics from last night Lynette.

dibnlib I have seen creme eggs on sale since just after Christmas and as yet have resisted buying them.

    Margobird

  • Good morning Alan  thanks for the link to the eagle video.  Wonderful viewing of the nest being built in what seems to be very bad weather.
