HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I wish a wonderful Easter to those who celebrate the holiday.
I am packing my clothes this evening. I'm headed to Indianapolis to care for my friends' 5 dogs while they take a week's vacation in New York City. I don't have TV right now (I will very soon) so I'm looking forward to watching theirs. They subscribe to all the good channels.
I hope the country stays calm while I'm there. I lived in Indianapolis for 15 years, but I was never really comfortable in the big city, even on a good day.
The Northern Cardinals have finished their nest. They built it in a small tree by my porch window this year.
Everyone have the best week possible. Love and hugs to all.
Happy Birthday AQ. So pleased the dog will be going home.
We had a great night out at Eden Court yesterday, so pleased we got there as OH has a chest infection and I thought he may not feel well enough. We did have to cancel our 2 days away in Pitlochry which was to celebrate our 45th anniversary (45 today and it was Bryan Adams we saw last night)
Happy Anniversary to DIBNLIB and her OH. I hope he feels better soon. What a pity you had to cancel your stay in Pitlochry, I hope it is just a postponement !
Happy Birthday AQ - I hope you have had a lovely day. Dibnlib - so sorry you missed your trip to Pitlochry but glad you got out to the concert. Lindy - I have those Spanish bluebells. I keep them because of the colour. They just arrived. I didn’t plant them. Fortunately I get to see wild bluebells quite often on my walks. Your OH is busy. There is always such a lot to do at this time of year especially if you have an allotment. So a quick report on my train trips both of which were to meet up with old friends. 6 trains in all on then2 days and, miraculously, they were all on time!!!!!
On Wednesday I went to Wrexham Station which is lovely by the way, and took the train to Shrewsbury where I met a friend who came up from Hereford. We had coffee and toasted tea cake in a cafe not far from the station and just talked and talked. There was lots to catch up on especially news of her family (I taught 3 of her children. They were all lovely and very talented) We then walked through the town up to the Catholic Cathedral where they have a lovely cafe. Lunch was taken with more talking!! Another walk through town to a 3rd cafe and a cup of tea before we got our trains home. A really nice day.
When we stopped at Chirk station on the way back, I took this photo. It is a much loved and cared for station.
Yesterday, I drove to Frodsham and caught the train to Newton le Willows where I connected with a train from Liverpool on which I met my friend. We were on our way to Leeds to meet up with ladies we were with in grammar school 60 years ago (frightening thought) 10 of us from our class met up at a pizza place near the station. Much conversation as you can imagine (we meet about 4 times a year but last time my friend from Liverpool and I couldn’t go if you remember. A drunk driver had crashed onto the train tracks and all the trains from our direction were cancelled!!! I ordered a pizza which said it was spicy. Well it was VERY spicy!!! Much water was consumed. I got a train back at about 3.30 and connected to my Frodsham one at Newton le Willows again. The traffic was heavy coming back into Wales - Friday night heading to the coast - but I know some ways round so I was only about 10 minutes later than I normally would have been. I have to confess I was tired. I really wanted to do all those things and I could but, it isn’t as easy as it used to be. I don’t like that!!!!
HEATHER/RUSTY thank you for your anniversary wishes. RUSTY some lovely pics recently thank you. As we did not get away this weekend we treated ourselves to a rather lovely Vivid art lamb for the garden. Truely RUSTY it is just like those in your pics, Benson sniffed it's bottom and left it at that.
Sounds like a great excursion, RUSTY. Seeing Chirk station reminded me of a canal boat trip with my son, his wife and Sam, who was only about six at the time. We had a couple of those holidays, great fun! I think I've said that before. When you mentioned the war graves in France I remembered a visit to St Valery en Caux. We were taken to a large cemetery with many war graves which simply said' Mort pour France.'
Belated Happy Anniversary wishes Dibnlib. I had to google Vivid art lamb. It looks lovely!
I hope your OH feels better soon.
AQ - A rather belated Happy Birthday. Hope it was a good and happy one.
dibnlib - An equally belated Happy Anniversary. Hope your OH is feeling better
Rusty - I aways enjoy reading about your escapades. And yes, I can relate to the 'not as easy as it used to be'!! I'm exhausted, having been at Synod all day! Very interesting, but more tiring than it used to be ...
ROSY, HARELADY, DIBNLIB, RUSTY & PAT – Thank you for birthday wishes.
DIBNLIB & OH – Congratulations on your 45 years. I hope you can have a delayed visit to Pitlochry soon.
Dinner last eve was lovely, sitting in a window overlooking the sea at Henley Beach. I had whiting, salad & chips. (King George whiting is a South Aussie specialty.) Dau had a trio of whiting, prawns & calamari. The serves were more than sufficient and we passed on dessert.
STARTING NEW THREAD NOW
