2024 Season (link)
At the beginning of May, just after we celebrated an improved start to the season for Brodie and Asha (née Mistle), catastrophe descended upon the nest, in the form of KL5-Klive, whose aggression had ruined the end of 2023 for the two fledged siblings.
Brodie and Asha had returned on 06 and 07 April respectively.
= 21 April 2024 @ 10:47 = 24 April 2024 @ 14:06 = 27 April 2024 @ 13:0502 May 2024 - BlueKL5 "Klive" destroyed/kicked out all eggs.
Brodie was soon overpowered and he fled, returning occasionally.
Axel was seen to intrude very occasionally.
On 07 May SheilaFE reported: Sunday 05 May 2024 20:36:24 KL5 flies off the nest to chase an O flying by – last time Klive is seen on Sunday evening engaging in an aerial battle. Maybe he got his behind kicked and is laying low?
But he returned
Klive wooed Asha, unwelcome and incompetent (re mating), and teasing and selfish (fish-wise), Brodie made the odd appearance, and in the end Asha left early, leaving Klive to assert himself over the nest area for the rest of the season.
This was Imagicat's take on the season (thanks to ChloeB ️and Tiger ).
For IDs
Asha (unringed)
Brodie & Asha - so very similar!
Klive-KL5 (Blue)
He'll be 5 years old this season - might he have matured in the right direction?

The as-yet untended nest (and cam)
The nest cam is glitchy and the PTZ is offline. There is no news from LG HQ. WildlifeWindows' own YT channel has only peregrine falcon streams active.
This is a very busy OP - but who knows who may turn up? and we do hope one familiar face (or feathers) in particular turns up:

Another dramatic moment. It does seem Brodie is more determined to keep the nest this year, that was some fight and it's Brodie who returned some hours later. Has he seen off the BTO intruder at last? We will see. The intruder is likely a Scottish bird as has the BTO ring on right leg.
Oh well, over on Chat they are all convinced Asha left 10 days ago and she is now Betty. (Informally )

I'm calling her Asha#2 until we get an official name. I'm not 100% convinced she's a new bird, but can see slight variations from snaps - however, we see variations in the same bird depending on precise posture, breeze, etc.
You know me, CIRRUS - ever flexible
Am feeling half alive this morning, so am trying to resume yesterday morning's video.
And you are so diplomatic and very welcoming SCYLLA and I must be more careful not to 'offend' anyone. sigh and i shall never be convinced cos she and Brodie just knew each other so well ! It wasn't like 'new' partners meeting, if you know what I mean...
Ooh ... If we could just get a pic of her spotty bloomers... could this solve the conundrum?
Hoping I have the right female , right bloomers
Scylla & Cirrus, I visited LG VC yesterday and one of workers there said it was her behaviour that convinced them that it was not Asha as the markings are very similar. Like you I am not fully convinced but I'm not an expert, just a LG fan ... so what do I know!!!

29 April
Starting with the first landing I found - started this yesterday, but this morning I forgot to listen for skydancing prior to osprey landing - continuing with BTO landing & chipping, then the skirmish, then more than 3 hours later the next landing - which I think was Asha#2, not Brodie, but of course I could be wrong. I haven't continued looking for what I deem to be Brodie's return - because we know he was OK in the end and I'm far enough behine as it is !!!
,
Here was the Cuckoo during the above period, I don't recall seeing on at the nest so long and loud in the past
Is there anything else "urgent/fascinating/unusual" for the 29th?
Hiya Freebird66 - I saw her spotty bloomers but lost them - now I can't even remember what year's footage I wuz watchin' - great monitor, I am !!!
jeannie B - Thank you for the report back from the theatre of war I thought that a change in behaviour could be due to the shaking-up that Klive obviously gave her before she disappeared - but who knows? In any case, I think I've said before that I saw Asha as being quite kinda doolally at times.
It'll all come out in the wash (we're told).
Food time here !!!
I think this bird (on the nest) is a female - the call was different and she seemed to shoot off once she heard the male. Please can more knowledgeable individuals tell me if I am right or wrong . Thanks.
Terrific video Scylla, thank you
Thank you for that JEANNIE B
