2024 Season (link)
At the beginning of May, just after we celebrated an improved start to the season for Brodie and Asha (née Mistle), catastrophe descended upon the nest, in the form of KL5-Klive, whose aggression had ruined the end of 2023 for the two fledged siblings.
Brodie and Asha had returned on 06 and 07 April respectively.
= 21 April 2024 @ 10:47 = 24 April 2024 @ 14:06 = 27 April 2024 @ 13:0502 May 2024 - BlueKL5 "Klive" destroyed/kicked out all eggs.
Brodie was soon overpowered and he fled, returning occasionally.
Axel was seen to intrude very occasionally.
On 07 May SheilaFE reported: Sunday 05 May 2024 20:36:24 KL5 flies off the nest to chase an O flying by – last time Klive is seen on Sunday evening engaging in an aerial battle. Maybe he got his behind kicked and is laying low?
But he returned
Klive wooed Asha, unwelcome and incompetent (re mating), and teasing and selfish (fish-wise), Brodie made the odd appearance, and in the end Asha left early, leaving Klive to assert himself over the nest area for the rest of the season.
This was Imagicat's take on the season (thanks to ChloeB ️and Tiger ).

Brodie & Asha - so very similar!
Klive-KL5 (Blue)
He'll be 5 years old this season - might he have matured in the right direction?

The as-yet untended nest (and cam)
The nest cam is glitchy and the PTZ is offline. There is no news from LG HQ. WildlifeWindows' own YT channel has only peregrine falcon streams active.
This is a very busy OP - but who knows who may turn up? and we do hope one familiar face (or feathers) in particular turns up:

The beautiful scene that awaits us (historic snap):
Thanks Scylla for this very informative new thread. Fantastic to have all these close ups to help us ID the ospreys !!
Wishing them all a safe journey home and hopefully we see a more settled year
A great opening post Scylla, love the photos. I do so hope that Asha returns and a suitable partner for her to settle with, whether that be Axel or KL5. Fingers crossed for a successful season this year with some healthy chicks. Not long now!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Well done Scylla for your very comprehensive opener for our treasured Loch Garten nest ... do so hope for good things this season

Very thorough Scylla and excellently presented. Very many thank yous. Loved all the pics - wonderful. Forgive me , I have no hopes for this years ''muddle'' but it would be wonderful if a totally new male arrived and kicked ass. Maybe even stood up against marauding goshawks that have reconnoitered Asha's nest ! anyway , maybe even see them off. Sigh.
Thank you for all of the information and pictures to help us to ID our birds. Let's hope all the camera issues are sorted soon, we seem to have been forgotten about ️ when you see the work being done on the other nest cams.

Holly29 (Ceejay19) I don't suppose you and I could gang up on YT Chat and post "@RSPB" daily until they can't possibly miss it and we get a response... of some kind? However, LG HQ usually reacts negatively to pleas from info-starved followers
Oh I'm game for that ️ are we putting a message after it ?.

While there are no "hosts" posting, I don't suppose there's much point - and we've only got the nest cam going at the mo, so hardly anyone's posting there. I've been thinking of contacting Jason Feathers of WildlifeWindows, he might be more amenable than LG, but we've got no relationship like we used to have with Peter of Carnyx.
I've got ever such a lot to get thru today - maybe I'll be more proactive tomorrow. I wonder if Kukelke might support us? Or anyone else - you know the chatters better than I do.
You're fine, it's just so frustrating. Canuck is another chatter that might have some ideas.
