HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope you all have the best week possible!
The coyotes on my patch have ended their breeding time howling, only to be replaced by the mating calls of the bobcat. She lives deep in the flood plain of the creek that flows along the boundary of my land. This time of year, female bobcats emit piercing, desperate calls that sound like the screaming of a weeping, angry woman. I was lonely on Valentine's Day on Friday, as well as tense from following the U.S. news. I was tempted to climb a tree and scream in solidarity with that bobcat. LOL
Love and hugs to you all.

bjane: It was so nice to see your post to OG at the end of last week's thread. I hope you are well.
Good evening. Life is so confusing at present. But among the not so good, J returned from his gathering this afternoon and reported a good chat time as well as other random conversations in town and on the local bus home – he was quite animated.
OH’s ears are improving at last. He shopped this morning – not a long list and has had a busy day. We don’t need to make our Wednesday trip this week as we don’t need to buy much from where we would be going, so we shall have a salad at home and he will get the wiring job done to replace the dining room light fittings of which one was broken by the cleaners about three weeks ago.
I am struggling to get on with the church magazine after last Sunday’s meeting at which several suggestions were raised – when I asked who was going to write the necessary new articles, I was greeted by blank stares!
Yesterday Dau had a training session after school, so she asked me to collect the Trio from their schools. First the twins, then half a mile to MissTeen’s (luckily dismissed later). Back home (theirs), they found their own snacks and disappeared. MissJ helped me fold & put away washing. Again it was a long hot drive home in rush hour traffic.
OG – I suggest you leave blank half a page of the magazine. Perhaps with a note saying nothing came in. See if that prompts some articles.
OG Glad to hear the happy news of J
We too have a lovely display of snowdrops. Some one has planted them along the avenue which is a beautiful path from Culloden house Hotel where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed during the uprising.
AQ/OG - I did that once ... left a whole blank page with a line across the middle saying 'Left blank for your contribution'. I received several e-mails saying what a good idea - but sadly, no contributions. Hey ho ... Editing a church magazine is a thankless task, but somehow we keep doing it.
OG - good to hear that J was feeling animated after his meeting. Let’s hope that continues. Also better news re your OH’s hearing. I sympathise re the church magazine. My sister used to do hers and had the exact same problem. I like the idea of an empty space! However, Pat’s experience was that it didn’t seem to help sadly. Nice to hear of snowdrops all over the country. After the hygienist yesterday I went to Chester. Where I park there were crocuses out which were lovely to see. I met a friend and went to a lunchtime concert. 2 guitarists. A really pleasant mix of classical and lighter stuff. They played Farewell to Stromness which I love. Today I have been energised by the sun which has reappeared!! I have taken the car to the hand car wash and have hoovered the insides myself. Then I was inspired to wash the filters in my hoovers. They are both cordless. One is a normal sort of thing which I use in the house and the smaller ones is great for hoovering furniture, the car and getting into corners. The weather is still very cold though. My new fence down one side of the house has been installed this morning. I must now text “the man” to say he can come and paint it when he is available!!!
After all that I am looking forward to going out with the lady’s birdwatching group tomorrow to Llyn Brenig. Siskins and bramblings are usually guaranteed. With any luck we might see a crossbill too. Obviously it is too early for the ospreys they have there but we will have a walk around and look what we can see on the water. Sadly, the forecast isn’t marvellous but they have a nice cafe in the visitors centre!!!!
Rusty: Ha! I was waiting to hear about lunch options for tomorrow's outing.
OG/PatO: Sympathies re generating copy for church magazines. Any volunteer publication is hard work to fill.
Annette - I had lunch out in Chester yesterday!!! Broccoli and cheese soup. Very good.
My back tooth that has been niggling for a month and did not respond to initial treatment. Yesterday back to the dentist for proposed root canal work. Alas, he found under the crown that the tooth was “mush”, so goodbye tooth. It just happens to be my main chewing tooth. It was very reluctant to part with me. Owww Also I became very dizzy afterwards. Receptionist could have charged me anything! I sat in car for ¼ hour before I risked driving home (5 mins away). I slept away the afternoon, can of soup for tea, still quite sore so Panadol before bed. This morn it is feeling strange but much better. Growing old and wearing out!!!
Someone in newspaper is complaining about the term “elderly” used for over 60s. To her it is derogatory, meaning someone frail. Would she prefer “geriatric”? My supermarket offers pensioners a discount on Wednesdays. Most checkout people remember me, but I ask newbies for the geriatric discount. They know what I mean!
Episode 1. A few weeks ago a neighbour paused to chat. His first question was where was what I intended. No, I am not moving; I am quite happy living here on my own. OK, I do need more help with roof gutters, pruning, certain repairs. . . but where would I go? There is a housing shortage. It would cost me an arm & 3 legs to find another place close to my familiar shops, medicos, library, church. A bus is fairly close (even though it is not very frequent and doesn’t connect well).
Episode 2. This week I was brushing cobwebs off my car before the Trio’s school pickup. To my surprise a “neighbour” from down the street spoke to me. I doubt she has spoken to me for 40 years! After a little chat, “What are you going to do?” I replied I was staying of course. More chat and then she asked “What about OH?” Oh, he died. Obviously the gossip had not percolated down the street. She had only heard he had gone into care.
AQ so sorry about your tooth, bit of a nightmare.
