HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!
The first full moon of 2025, the Wolf Moon, will occur at:
10:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in UK
2:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in California
8:56 am on Tuesday, January 14, in Adelaide, Australia
I hope everyone has a good week.
During last week's snowstorm, the roads and businesses in my area were all closed. No traffic on the highway near my house. No booming loud music and yelling at the pub/bar. Just the wind in the trees and the falling snow and ice in the forest around me. One evening, I heard the long, mournful howl of a coyote. I realized how much I've missed the quiet of the woods and the sounds of the wildlife. It was so peaceful here a few years ago.
Hugs and love to all of you.
AQ - I watched a bit of the Medvedev v Tien match and then had to leave it to go out to lunch. I like watching Medvedev, and it was a bit of an antidote after watching Sinner, who I really don't enjoy watching. Glad you are sleeping better - you'll have to give me your recipe!
Rusty, so sorry to hear about your friend. Just as well that we never know what Fate has in store. I do hope she improves.
Sadly, I have been consoling my OHs sister, Sue, as yesterday she found out that a close friend of hers for many years who was taken ill over Christmas has now been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Sue is devastated, and almost too upset to go and visit.
The sunshine here was bright today and showed up all the dust in the house. I cleaned bathrooms however & contemplated that as we are expecting two new chairs to be delivered tomorrow, I have never before in over 50+ years of marriage had new dining furniture- it's all been ex family castoffs or bought cheaply 2nd hand. When we married we bought a new marital bed & a sofa, both of which lasted for about 20+ years. Everything else was begged or borrowed for many years, including a fridge which had been my parents fridge & was older than myself at 25 years old! It died eventually when the rubber seal failed. My washing machine was archaic as it had been my m.in laws & was a big tub with a wringer at the top! It was jettisoned when we left the farm with nearly everything put into a small van to go to our new home. Those were the days!
My OH was pleased to manage a round of golf today at last. I've been tidying & wondering what the year may bring.
I followed some of the tennis & was sorry to see that Katie Boulter went out. Like AQ, I often pick my favourites by liking their outfits or not liking their attitudes!!
Glad you are getting better sleep AQ
We met up with a friend yesterday. We don't see her often as she is still working and very busy. Sadly there is a possibility that within the next few months their remaining 3 dogs will have been put to sleep. They are 14, 15 and 16 and have had a good life. It is hard to imagine them without as a few years ago they had 8.......4 huskies and 4 Scandinavian hounds.
