HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I apologize, folks. I usually like to start the week with a positive, uplifting post, but I'm not in a good mood this evening.
My area is under a major Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow and Monday. This is a massive storm that will stretch 1,300 miles and affect 62 million people. My region of Indiana is in the swath predicted to get the most snow. For some reason, the National Weather Service has been unable to pinpoint the track, snow totals, and ice accumulation for central Indiana, but it appears that I could get over a foot of snow (31 centimeters). We've been warned that travel may be impossible, power outages will occur, and high winds may cause extensive drifting.
After the storm, the polar vortex will settle here and bring dangerous arctic cold. I'm worried that my roof can't hold that much snow, plus my old house will get too cold.
I stocked up on groceries and water today.
Annette said that the UK is also expecting bad weather. I wish you all well.
Love and hugs to all.

Rusty - Sounds like a wonderful trip. Bit of a downer finding your car wouldn't start at the end of it! But you were saved :-)
Great photos, thanks for posting.
Dramatic and terrible news from California- each new report it seems to get worse. Our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes.
I'm off in the morning to have the camera down the throat thing- - only a check up & hoping they won't find anything they don't like. Thankful that I have my OH to take me there and back as I'm having the mild sedative & won't be allowed to drive myself.
Its snowed here again today, big flakes came down this afternoon. After a night of Minus 7 degrees last night & the same predicted for tonight, everything is crisp and icy. Quite dangerous out and about. Our Council are short of cash so only the main roads are gritted and none of the pavements seem to be.
I hope those not well will soon recover. There are a lot of nasty bugs about for sure.
Hello all and thank you for news and pics.
Things here are - well - cold ! I'm waiting for the washing machine man, supposed to come today between 8 and 10 am.
The news from the Los Angeles area is awful. I can't imagine devastation on such a large scale in peacetime. Looking at the pictures it would seem as if a great many houses are of timber construction ?
My Danish friends are quite concerned about Mr Trump's ideas about Greenland. It is nothing new but if things escalate it will be hard to remain diplomatic, as the Danish PM is attempting to be.
Regards to all - hope that Lindys procedure shows nothing untoward. And sorry that OGs household is unwell.
Heather - Cold here as well, several hundred miles south of you. But there are patches of blue above. The temperature is registering at -1degree at the moment, and the snow is not melting. I am feeling quite chuffed as I have just been through my wardrobe and ejected a few things ... not enough, but a start. There are things in there I had completely forgotten about. Hopefully I will now start wearing them. In my head I have evolved a rotational system so everything gets worn - I wonder if that will work in practice?!?!?
I can understand your Danish friends' concern. I don't know anything much about Greenland, but I'm very concerned as well. With Trump and Putin having so much power, I think we are all fearful. In a church meeting last night one member asked whether we could pray against Musk ... we decided, though, that a better prayer was for the triumph of truth. If only ...
I have been watching the continuing situation around Los Angeles with increasing horror. It doesn't seem possible that a whole area can be wiped out in such a short time. I saw an interview with a man whose house is - at the moment - still standing. He reckons it's one of just four in the street, and he seems to think the community will never recover. It's all so sad.
Lindy - I hope your test goes smoothly and that nothing nasty is lurking.
My thoughts and prayers with others who are struggling with health issues, climate concerns or cars that won't start. For those of us in the UK - spring will be here soon - my forsythia thinks it's already here! So do the bluetits, who were doing some maintenance on their nesting box yesterday in the sunshine.
