HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH and HAPPY NEW MOON!

I hope everyone has a good December and holiday season. A new moon begins the month and another new moon will end the month (and the year)!

On Thanksgiving night, my region had a weak earthquake. People felt the shaking, but no damage was done. It wasn't a big deal, except that folks were talking about how distressed the dogs, cats, and wildlife were before, during, and after the quake. We have small quakes once in a while, and nobody knows why this particular quake disturbed the animals so much. The raccoons on my patch were goofy, running around on the roof, barking, and trying to get in the house. One woman said the ducks on her lake raised a loud ruckus. Lots of folks said their dogs behaved strangely. Many people had animal stories.

We had Arctic cold move in yesterday, and the raccoons have now begun their hibernation (torpor).

Love and hugs to everyone.

  • Dibnlib - how lovely to have decorations opposite! Enjoy.

I am just back from having my 3rd annual mammogram after breast cancer. The lovely radiologist said that if I haven’t heard anything after 2 weeks then I am to assume all is OK. Fingers crossed. I have an appointment in January in any case.

  • I have my fingers crossed for you as well, RUSTY !

DIBNLIB,- Good that you can enjoy your neighbours ' lovely outside decorations. None to be seen around here as yet.

ANNETTE - Your brother in law seems to be quite poorly. I hope that you will get better news, soon. As for his son - well, no comment.

OG - I've never had a colonoscopy but my OH had quite a few. The preparations were worse than the event, according to him! I can understand why J is anxious, though.

Youngest daughter and her OH were here this morning, fetching my Christmas decs down from the loft. Granddaughters Amy and Katie will come here at some point to do the necessary. I wish I felt more enthusiastic about it all. My youngest grandchildren will be here on the 27th and it is for them that the house will be decorated ! They will be here for about a week.

  • Oh dear, was it something I said ?!!

  • I am sure not Heather!!! I suppose everyone is just busy. Guess what? I am going out to a Christmas lunch today with the lady birders. Naturally we are going birding first!!

  • Next episode in the drama “Days in My Life”. Yesterday OH’s death certificate arrived finally and I can begin official notifications. But wait, they have listed Dau#2’s birth year as 2024. So there was I this morn, on the hottest day so far this summer, treking into city to report error. Oh, it wasn’t the registry’s fault. Well, I gave the funeral director a typed list of names and dates to avoid any errors. Whatever, I had to pay another $62.50 fee and wait an hour for the replacement.

While waiting I visited fridge store. Alas the one I was thinking of choosing has been discontinued and the new version has a smaller freezer section than I want. I came home to reconsider, read reviews online, etc. I shall probably drag myself to city again tomorrow to order something. When I returned home the current fridge, knowing I have been too busy to wash kitchen floor, decided to leak over a good portion of the floor. Yes, I stepped in it before I noticed.  PS Today’s max 40 C with 17% humidity.

  • Bless you AQ, How on earth do you manage to go out in that Temp you are amazing.

How disconcerting to have to deal with the incorrect Death Certificate, could you perhaps at a later date , ask the registry to see the copy of dates they were given.

    BIG hugs

  • The thought of you trekking in 40° heat, AQ ... I hope that you get a replacement fridge freezer soon.

RUSTY - you surprise me - a lunch out ! I hope it is a good one.

  • Morning all:  Yes, it's been busy.  We have a lot going on here right now - not necessarily bad but everyday there'ssomething that needs filling out/following upon.  Have spent ages on the phone.  Finally going for haircut (hurray!) this morning and then some errand before back home at lunchtime.   BiL had scans yesterday; am waiting for update from niece. We are not optimistic.   Nephew was conspicuous by his absence during my sister's long illness and death; he's apparently giving his sister a chance to go tback home for a day or two and is staying at BiL's house where he can work remotely.  I hope he's managing to 'connect' with his Dad and maybe help out his sister, but past performance and all that....

Have read all you news: Smiles and hugs where appropriate.  Take care all.

  • I’m late today, but we have been busy with some catching up.  Ch cards were all ready, and we were going to post nearer Ch; however, some have been arriving, so I suggested “what the h***, let’s bung them all in the box today”!  Now they are out the way.

Yesterday’s meal out was a sort of Ch meal inside a large pastie – too much to eat it all, but very tasty.  The shopping went well too, so a good day altogether.

Thanks for all thoughts for J – I think his real problem is his chronic anxiety coupled with having had the procedure before he knows exactly how uncomfortable it will be!  Starvation and clear-out day tomorrow, then to the hospital by 8:00am Saturday – first try to get him up on time!

DIBNLIB - Our over-the-road neighbours are all decorated up – and several other houses nearby too – much too soon IMHO.

HEATHER – nice to see your little people will be up between Ch and NY – will young Sam be on leave from his training?

AQ – such a blunder over the wrong certificate – especially having to pay so much for the correction!  Hope you will locate a fridge with the correct dimensions for your needs.  Ours is a Daewoo which is very good.  (double doors side by side).

  • Just seen Earthquake and Tsunamin alert for California - thinking of ANNETTE - stay safe , my friend!
