Phew!  That's that for another year.  Now off to check recent posts.

  • Thanks Alan

    and to you Patriciat:)

    Happy 2011 everyone.

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!!!

  • A Very Happy New Year to you ALL and all that you would wish for yourselves.

Thank you for your friendship which means so much to me.

  • Thanks Wendy, Alan, Chloe and Joan.

I;ve lasted until 10.07pm but it's time for bed!

    Catch up tomorrow

  • Happy New Year to you all.

At least now those of us in the Northern Hemisphere should begin to see slow significant lengthening of the days at last.  Would be nice to have a bit of heat, but can't expect everything at once!!

Dibnlib - you are right in your assumption that a vast amount of the snow on Ben Nevis has now gone - probably making way for the next lot!!

Gary - keep the pup photos coming - they are gorgeous

  • Hallo all: Well, I see some of you have been - ahem - celebrating, judging by some slurred spelling on the part of at least one blogger! :-)   I made a nice little dinner and opened a good bottle of Cabernet that's been idling in the cabinet for some months, then OH and I just polished off the last of the wonderful ice cream and cookies I got for Christmas. I've been watching 2011 being rung in everywhere from New Zealand to New York but another hour for us - not sure I'll make it!   Went to the gym this morning and found myself a few pounds less than I feared, so immediately went to Jeannine's bakery (situated just a block from the gym), bought a freshly baked bearclaw (a flakey pastry with almond filling and sliced almonds baked on top) and a latte (they make the best in town - no, not decaf OG but low-fat)!  A case of eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we're back to veggies, nuts, fruit, etc.

Diane: I see those tornadoes are heading your way; stay safe!  I didn't realize they move faster and do more damage in cold air than in summer.

ChloeB: Lovely bright and cheery card! Thank you!

    Gary: incredibly cute puppy pix.

Alan:  Nice card from the osprey forum - we're putting in three (fruitless) olive trees in the new garden - they're very graceful - and drought resistant.

OG: Jeannine's has the most wonderful carrot cake - but I always fall for the fresh strawberry/raspberry white cake with matching mousse filling. Only right that I should try the carrot cake one day just so you know what it's like, right?  Did you eat all the nibbles yourself?

AQ: Your neighborhood sounds a bit like ours - but without the fireworks. I'll probably watch the Tournament of Roses Parade from Pasadena (LA) in the morning - quite a do!

Everyone else; stay warm/cool/dry/safe and have a lovely January 1

  • Annette: No tornadoes here -- just loud thunderstorms and crazy warm weather. Glad you had a nice night. I had pizza. Yum!

Will catch up later. Everyone have a wonderful first day of the year.

  • Morning all ... I would just like to wish everyone A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR ... and thanks for being such a great group of people!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!
