RESUMÉ FOR MAY 2024
The new couple’s relationship has continued to grow. They have worked hard together to maintain and strengthen their nest, bringing in new materials daily. Both birds have been catching fish and sharing these with each other. They have also shared incubation and developed strategies to get each other off the eggs when needed! They have also defended their nest from intruders, the most traumatic being when Blue 432, Eshells, a 3 year old returner from Kielder visited on the 9th of May.. Blue 372 fought hard to keep her place on the nest as she was continually chased and dive bombed in Blue 432’s bid to oust her. The eggs were left unattended for around 3 1/2 hours. Luckily it was a warm evening so hopefully no damage done. The most exciting visit came from dear KA9 (22), Gelert, son of LJ2 and LM6 when he arrived on the morning of the 25th of May. It was a short visit as he was soon ushered away by LJ2.
05.44 LJ2 arrived and pulled the fish out from underneath 372
He left with it06.08 Just over 20 minutes later, LJ2 returned with the fish.

You did well Scylla...Thank you
Aw thank you Scylla. I had it in my head that it was due tomorrow and wasn’t paying close attention. It was actually in my photo at 09.46.15 onwards!
With the lens being all smudgy, I just glanced and thought it was a whole egg!
It was a bit scary watching with 372 determined to move the shell away and her foot trodding on #2 several times.
It’s so difficult to see anything with the lens being wet.
11.33 372 left for a comfort break
Cropped pic reveals nothing. Bob #1 has its head up to the left.
11.34 372 returns
11.35 Bob #1 can be seen more clearly but no image of bob #2
11.35 372 settled back down.
We can only hope #2 survived and will find out as the day goes on. I’m out for the rest of the day now.

Thank you so much for the fab photos and arrows Sandra showing #1 and #2. II was kind of dreading opening the page in case there was bad news.
Brenig’s announcement of the arrival of #2 earlier. They have given an estimated time of 09.45. They are also thinking that it is the first and second eggs that have hatched so I may be wrong thinking it’s the second and third.
