Maya and 33(11) have taken turns incubating their precious eggs and we should see the first hatch towards the end of the first week in May.
23:34 better view of the hatchling
I am so happy to have witnessed the first hatch of the season - always so special. I'm looking forward to 33 arriving and seeing his little offspring.
Maya is quite a picture all settled with her little bobble beneath her.
But I'm calling it a night now - its been a long day for me. Night all
.
Looks like you made your own luck, Karen, so well deserved
I had a nap and felt able to re-attack footage, but am disappointed with the results. Here's a sorta hatch video but I can't say what time it was - you may decide I've missed a crucial bit:
Later, Maya took a break - still no really clear views of the little bobblehead tho:
I hope we'll have some clearer pics in daycam:
IMAGICAT
Thank you Scylla for the videos.
I've had another look as I was so tired last night but think I'll stick with seeing the shell split at 23:08 and hatch at 23:23. But as always, happy to be corrected.
I've also done a wee video which I'll post too including the timestamp.
First Hatch (egg #2 3 ) at Manton Bay - 23:23 10 May 2024
Another sighting of Manton Bay's first chick @ 02:45 11 May 2024
05:27 33 arrives, sees the shell and it gets stuck in his talon
06:29 33 is back again
Maya is not for rising - he'll have to go and get a fish if he wants to see the little one
Good morning Scylla and Karen,
Woo-hoo, what wonderful news! Many congratulations on the safe arrival of the first chick! So happy for you to have witnessed its arrival, Karen!
07:25 33 arrives with a fish and quickly takes off with it again
07:33 33 returns with the fish and stands side of the nest waiting on Maya rising.
She doesn't and after a minute, 33 flies off with the fish
