Three beautiful eggs were laid from mid-April, with the final one arriving almost 10 hours later than NC0’s usual 72 hour 'cycle'.
Both Laddie and NC0 have had to defend the nest from many 'passing through' intruders. Could Laddie’s defence of the reserve be the reason why there has been no sighting of him on the webcam since early lunchtime on the 28th? There were a few occasions where there was a high likelihood that he may have been in NC0’s sight since then though, her loud fish calls alerted us to that probable fact.
With NC0’s last meal being delivered on the 27th, we can only hope that Laddie arrives home not only fit and well, but also with a well-deserved fish for such an amazing female Osprey – her endeavours to keep the eggs protected, warm and dry during his absence, have been truly remarkable!
As I write, it has been just over 60 hours without Laddie at the nest and we now wait, in anticipation, for a positive start to this new month...
*UPDATED 4.5.23: Heartbroken to report, that there was very sadly no positive news forthcoming regarding our dear Laddie...

Was she always this vocal with Laddie?
Hi Ash,
Yes, when she saw him on the reserve, with or without a fish, and a lot of the time when he was on the nest too (they did have their quiet times together as well). NC0 has always had a voice on her! I love the way Lowes, in their latest blog, described NC0's calls as ‘gentle’ audible persuasions - says it all really!
Thanks. Yes that did make me chuckle in their blog.
I always turn my sound down when she's in 'full flow'! lol
21:27 I can hear NC0 calling distantly from somewhere - not on view
The Dark Male must be wondering if this female ever ceases to be hungry! He’s experiencing the full package with NC0 so no slacking from him!
Lol, Glider, he's probably wondering what he's let himself in for! I'm hoping he'll bring in a much larger fish soon, he may then realise his (and our) ears will not get quite a vocal 'bashing'!
I continued to hear distant calling at 22:06, but it was silent pre night cam at 22:08. No-one on view
Still ENS, 22:45. Hopefully, NC0 and the male are sheltered somewhere, the wind is quite gusty

23rd May
Morning All
There was an early morning alarm call for everyone in the vicinity, when NC0 landed on the nest at 4:03
4:15 Quiet and looking around
4:35 Calling
4:53
She left at 4:55
It was ENS until NC0 came back at 6:49
The male joined her at 6:53
He landed on the limb
Some nest tidying
NC0 was calling
She preened
NC0 continued to call
He left at 7:01
Back with at stick a minute later
He left and returned with another stick at 7:05
7:08 Off he went
NC0 remained on the nest until 7:17
The male landed at 7:40, NC0 was on the birch
It wasn't long until NC0 joined him
She was asking for fish
7:45 He flew off
He has been back on a couple more occasions since then (no fish or mating attempts)
NC0, at present, 8:12. She isn't calling so hopefully the male has gone fishing
