2023 return dates: NC0(16) - 17.3.23 (07:43) Laddie (LM12) - 17.3.23 (13:43)
Well, what an end the 2023 season turned out to be! Who can forget the battle for the nest between both juveniles, PF4(F) & PF5(M), and then to see the total domination and aggression by the eldest when 'owning' the nest, not only to her sibling but also to dear Laddie when he provided her with fish. The season synopsis can be read in the final LotL Osprey Diary here. Did NC0 leave early to undertake her southerly migration on the 15th July, or could there have been another reason for her not to be seen on the webcam or around the reserve?
We wait in anticipation for Laddie and NC0's safe return to Loch of the Lowes. Let us very much hope for a 'fraught-free' 2024 season...

Successful mating at 15:29
There was an unringed intruder at 15:44 - NC0 was alone on the nest at the time
NC0 flapping her wings
The intruder was hovering above the nest
She lost her balance for a moment
But recovered well
16:48 Mating
Edit: And again at 17:00
19:14 Unsure if NC0 was asking to be mated or if she was fish calling. Guess what option Laddie chose! lol
Haha Sandra, yes the easiest option! Maybe NC0 will lay quicker this year with so many successful matings.
NC0 is in prime condition, Glider. I wonder if waiting for Laddie to come back set her hormone levels high and she will lay earlier than the usual time period from first mating?
20:16 Both were at the nest. NC0 was intermittently calling
Laddie headed of to roost on the birch
Pre-night cam at 20:33
21:08 NC0 has remained on the nest perch
21:17 Awww
Edit: As this thread is already on page 50, I will create a new one for April rather than altering the title of this one to March/April, if that's ok with everyone?
Sounds like a plan Sandra ... of course, if the opening post is limited to first page only in the upcoming revisions then April's thread may not be so long but such a lot to come with egg laying that it has the potential to be lengthy too! If you catch my drift !!
What a lot of words to say ... good idea!
