Well, it's now 2024 and hopefully another successful year for the Poole Harbour Ospreys.
The last couple of years have seen the successful establishment of a nest and raising of young.
Translocated females From the harbour have set up successful nests in Wales also raising young.
Hopefully this year may see the establishment of a second nest in the Harbour area.

Here was the family last year
I hope Alison Copland won't mind but here is a link to a video she has made of the 2023 season. It is a must watch for followers of Ospreys, especially the Poole harbour family

17.04 Tea time delivery for CJ7
After careful consideration, I think it’s a mullet.

After no consideration at all (being a fisherman) it is indeed a Mullet
Haha! Thanks Richard, I was hoping you’d confirm!
Rather late and sorry, poor quality but here's my attempt at "the owl"
also, the owl came back a few minutes later for a flyover
Your videos are fab, thanks Janet. I love the way 022 is locked in staring at the owl, even when the owl changes its gaze to CJ7, 022 is still boring holes through it! Cheeky little thing, coming back for another fly around!

I tried to tell her she had nothing to worry about but she's too modest

Loved the moths Janet ! and thanks for lovely videos
A couple of half fish for CJ7 today. (There may have been an earlier one, I don’t know)
14.34 A view of CJ7 with the 4 eggs.
15.42 Afternoon fish delivery
16.44 A wee scare with the eggs as 022 brings a stick that plunges right into the nest cup.
022 checks the eggs and they all seem to be fine.
Evening fish delivery
19.58
There will be a lot of fish deliveries if there are 4 hungry mouths and CJ7 to feed at the end of the month!
Thanks Glider for updates on this so far peaceful nest ... must look back to work out possible hatch dates as have lost track in my head ... eggs laid on 15th/18th/21st/24th April ... average gestation period 35-37 days ... is that from last or penultimate egg?? So a while to go yet, maybe 26th- 29th May?

You’re welcome Wendy. We love peaceful nests!
Going by the online calculator, 15 April plus 37 days is 22 May, so maybe slightly sooner for first hatching.
