Link to July 2023 thread
July proved to be a less nail-biting month than June. Brodie re-appeared early on the 1st and delivered fish (including flounder) to the nest every day bar 1 thereafter, with a record count of 7 on the 21st. Asha also fished and delivered a salmon on the 3rd, as well as quite a few sticks, not least one to replace the sticky-up stick on the nest that got removed on ringing day - 12th July. We have 2 boys, as only 7% of those surveyed had predicted. 2C5 (oldest) became Sid (Vicious) and 2C4 (youngest) is Harry (Nilsson). We had some cracking snaps particularly from the PTZ camera, a 2am fish, self-feeding started, and wing-flapping and helicoptering. Bets are on for a fledge or two very early in August. Sid is 58 days and Harry 56 days on the 1st of August

On PTZ JUST FOUND wate for it. The forward hide
Morning All. I've just been looking back a bit, and remembered I was going to comment on Trevor's excellent capture, but forgot.
This view is of the Visitor Centre, not the Forward Hide. The FH is to the left of that view and slightly closer to the nest, and access is only for the volunteers and staff who monitor the nest 24/7, at least they did over ten years ago. The FH is a single storey building with two bunk beds in the entrance, a very small room. Go thru a door to the 'front' room which has a couple of swivel stools, a shelf/desk which is on three sides. At the front, the log book resides and the old large German telescope, drawings of the old nest tree, details of the chicks and the year's data. On the right side there are cooking facilities which was just a gas ring and a kettle in 2010, but I think it is now more up-market with a microwave - I think! On the left were the screens. All very cozy but it worked. I don't know what is in there since EJ left us.

Thank you so much Catlady. I thought I had responded, but clearly not. You can't get rid of me that easily!
Sorry my mistake with all the viewing hatches?
