Link to July 2023 thread
July proved to be a less nail-biting month than June. Brodie re-appeared early on the 1st and delivered fish (including flounder) to the nest every day bar 1 thereafter, with a record count of 7 on the 21st. Asha also fished and delivered a salmon on the 3rd, as well as quite a few sticks, not least one to replace the sticky-up stick on the nest that got removed on ringing day - 12th July. We have 2 boys, as only 7% of those surveyed had predicted. 2C5 (oldest) became Sid (Vicious) and 2C4 (youngest) is Harry (Nilsson). We had some cracking snaps particularly from the PTZ camera, a 2am fish, self-feeding started, and wing-flapping and helicoptering. Bets are on for a fledge or two very early in August. Sid is 58 days and Harry 56 days on the 1st of August
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
It needs someone with a lot more skill than I have to enhance this pic ( SCYLLA ) Help pretty please
There's been a calamitous (hyperbole) domestic accident here (not caused by me!) so I've been in demand for this, that and the other.
Here was KL5's half-hour visit earlier...
...which I thought might be his final appearance, seein' as how he soared away, so I laboured over "last sighting of the season" snaps:
So he had to come back for less than a couple of minutes - at least, that's how short the visit once the cam found him:
TREVOR - I'm not sure what or when this was, but I'll get on with finding your HAWK REPORT!

Oh I seeeeeee !!! Blink and one missed it, so here it is at one-eighth speed:
What a spot!
I would suspect Goshawk as a Sparrowhawks are rarely found in Scotland
Thank you once again Scylla
YW, Trevor :)))
I'm off for a nap.
Kind regards
Jenny
Nice to see you again Nairnred. A name from the past!
KL5 visited the area again. The PTZ had been trained at a distance on the nest.
11.53.46 I assume someone at the VC saw him, and the cam moved to the dead tree. He was swaying in the wind on a very wobbly branch.
11.54.36 guess it felt a bit precarious in the wind, and he flew a minute later. I can't find him again.
