Link to July 2023 thread
July proved to be a less nail-biting month than June. Brodie re-appeared early on the 1st and delivered fish (including flounder) to the nest every day bar 1 thereafter, with a record count of 7 on the 21st. Asha also fished and delivered a salmon on the 3rd, as well as quite a few sticks, not least one to replace the sticky-up stick on the nest that got removed on ringing day - 12th July. We have 2 boys, as only 7% of those surveyed had predicted. 2C5 (oldest) became Sid (Vicious) and 2C4 (youngest) is Harry (Nilsson). We had some cracking snaps particularly from the PTZ camera, a 2am fish, self-feeding started, and wing-flapping and helicoptering. Bets are on for a fledge or two very early in August. Sid is 58 days and Harry 56 days on the 1st of August
Empty nest
Before 2C4’s fledge, and after.

21.08 another wee fish. Couldn't get a good snap. Maybe better on the peeteezedd cam
It looked as tho Sid was encouraging Harry. Harry landed on the structure of the old nest. Sid landed on the dead tree which is actually near the PTZ structure. He spread his wings, letting the wind gets der his wings, before he took off again. Come on bro come and have fun up inthe air! Wonderful for the two of them, but perhaps sad for us, as it brings us ever closer to the end of the season. The nearer to the time that Asha thinks of leaving.
16,11 before Harry fledged someone was on the dead tree, another flew over to the area. Harry was helicopteriing well. 16. 19 he was spreading his wings, building confidence and at 16.20 he went up, disappeared and flew out over the bog and the trees before sweeping round from the left to the right. He flew over to the old nest site .
Asha has been in reflective mood for a while now, holding onto a fish that no-one seems to want. Her work is done.......how long until she goes?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Fledge vid. (Both cams are still playing up - and it was a shame that the cam couldn't get sharp focus on 2C4 on his landing place.)

Managed this on the peeteezedd
Asha went flyabout, probably checking on absent members, but came back to the perch to keep 2C4 company:
