Thanks Glider, great to see them! It would be wonderful to get confirmation that it is definitely Black 80 (son of Mrs G and Orange 11(98) - he's 17 years old this year!

Yes, certainly hope so Sandra.  He’s sired many youngsters over the years!

  • I don't know if this is the right place to post this, however it may result in a reply!!

I have been looking at the United Kingdom Osprey website and although the "Countdown" of arrivals is running there has been no changes to reflect the arrival of the 3 pairs on the sites that have been mentioned on the posts here, LotL, MB and Threaves. Does anyone know why this is or of a contact that could give an explanation, as it is a very handy resource.

    Hi
After Pete Dee passed away nobody had access to the site anymore. but there is a new website by Jeff Kear: UKOspreyInformation.com, where Jeff is building up a new database of all things osprey.
Also he created this document "Significant Events at Individual Nests", which will be a great reference point to use as a catch up. He may also need volunteers to help update the document, so if you're interested please contact him.

Thanks, Bart. I must have missed the sorry news of Pete Dee's death and that the site would no longer be updated.
The new website and database will be very useful but I doubt that I will be able to do any volunteering to help updates as we are away most of the year round and can't rely of getting wifi signals all the time.
  • Things are going well at Threave.

Friends of Threave Osprey Facebook reported that the 2 birds have been mating. They’ve still to identify if the birds are the resident couple Black80 and BlueKC but will let us know when they know.

After I saw the announcement I downloaded 6 hours of live stream, planning to create a spectacular snap to post here - but oh dear, the weather was horrendous the whole time, wind & rain leading to a blurred view throughout.  I just managed to get this from YT rollback, it was still windy but not so wet:

  • In reply to Glider:

The two birds at Threave were so comfortable with each other right from the start, and they were looking very at home on that nest immediately after landing, so I feel they must be the resident pair--hope that is confirmed.

    Kind regards, Ann

  • In reply to Gardenbirder:

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the news earlier - a new couple would be likely to go thru a trial 'n error and/or trial 'n rejection phase for a day or three
