LLYN BRENIG - MARCH/APRIL 2023

  • In reply to Glider:

Brilliant coverage, Glider! Thank you :)

  • In reply to Sandra :

What a shame but I cannot spend more time on this - it does show LJ2 retrieving the fish yesterday but needs more "effects" and doesn't show fish coming to nest.   I made it Unlisted, in case it's a total flop.

Vid removed, big mistake therein - maybe there'll be time to fix it later.

  • In reply to scylla:

Thanks Scylla, it was only when I saw LJ2 return with the fish that I realised he must’ve found it somewhere. I then spent ages scrolling through footage (as it was in the distance) and thought I’d got it only to see it happen again once LM6 was on the nest!

I’m amazed that the corvids didn’t get to it first!

I hope today is a nice quiet, easy day as I’m out for most of the day and night so don’t know when I’ll be able to view the nest!
  • Saturday 15th April

Good morning  LM6 stayed on the nest then briefly perch until just after 9pm last night.

LJ2 was first to visit the nest this morning at 05.10

Just before 06.00 LM6 can be heard asking for fish then she flies onto the cam pole. LJ2 follows onto the pole with a contact chip.
He then comes down to the nest and LM6 continues fish calling from the pole.

After a couple of minutes of louder fish calling, she joins LJ2 on the nest. (left)

    He soon leaves.

  • In reply to Glider:

LM6 initially stays on the nest and fish calls then goes quiet. She leaves a wee while later. The both make individual appearances at the nest bringing nesting materials.

    07.27 LM6 brings in a long stick.

    07. 42 LJ2 with his long stick.

After placing the stick, LJ2 does some cup nestorising. The nest is really taking shape now.

  • In reply to Glider:

13.18 Looks like a whole perch for LM6.

It looks like a lovely day, calm and sunny.

  • In reply to Glider:

    16.14 successful mating

    17.30 headless fish delivered.

  • In reply to Glider:

    Sunday 16th April

Good morning Looks like LM6 roosted all night on the perch. She left briefly to return to mate as LJ2 joined her at 05.50.

Both birds on the nest again at 06.20

They have been back and forward all morning. Not the nicest of weathers again. We were spoilt yesterday.

09.15 LM6 brings in some greenery

and LJ2 flies on behind her to sort it out.

  • In reply to Glider:

    More mating

and LM6 flies to the perch around 11.07, where she’s currently sitting.

  • In reply to Glider:

Around 13.37, LJ2 brings in a large headless fish.

    LM6 quickly takes it

gets a grip in her talons and heads off.
