WendyBartter said:Another learning curve on here, had to google 'silver tourist' as had never come across that fish name before!
Silver Tourist (ST) is angler slang, a collective description for big silvery fish which are either Salmon or Sea Trout which return from the sea to breed in freshwater. It's difficult to tell them apart so for fish stats at Loch Arkaig, they're called STs.
Friday 23rd June
Giant alien on Nest One? 02.17
Breakfast! Fish number one, whole trout 04.14.16
Fish number two, whole trout 05.21.29 But everyone's still full from fish one, well, Dorcha was, the chick showed a little interest, so Louis takes it away again.
Louis returns with the remains of fish two 08.09.30 and this time, Dorcha definitely wanted it!
09.05 Is this Prince intruding on Nest Two? Just a touchdown lasting nano seconds so I slowed down and zoomed - looks like Prince.
09.12 Nest One LV0 brings a fish for Affric but then there's an intruder chase. Is it Prince, who's just been chased off Nest Two by Louis?
Affric watches, then flies to Stick Tree with her fish. (Zoomed)
Nest One 14.29 Is Affric becoming more accepting of LV0? She does seem to accept him at first when he mounts, then shrugs him off. Looking good for a resident pair on the nest next year - will Prince lose out?
14.12 Bombs away! Thankfully chick misses the nest cam!
17.40.03 Wow! Fish number three is a giant whole Silver Tourist. Very fresh, still giving the occasional flap..
