LOCH GARTEN - August 2022 to end of season

  • Dare I say it but only 6 WEEKS OR 42 DAYS until the 2nd last week in March UNTIL OUR BELOVED OSPREYS START TO RETURN  EJ would be one of the first to arrive, around the 23rd and I think the Manton Bay birds are early as well. Oooohhhhhh exciting, not long at all.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • To add to Korkys & Catladys recent posts the anticipation for the coming season is building with all of us, I’m sure. Do hope it will become a very successful season for any ospreys that nest at Loch Garten.

Have just read that the BBC are going to cancel Autumnwatch this year. I presume that they will keep Springwatch & Winterwatch. The BBC has said that it is for financial reasons.

Thanks, BLUESKY2 - I did know and meant to post it in the "Anything goes" thread, forgot.  I understood from the early news that Winterwatch (well, one of the remaining two) is to be extended.

From memory - Laddie is usually early, plus Maya and Blue33... I've muted all sound here to try to rustle up others without cheating, am failing.

    Loved the video, Korky.

Thankyou for sharing it.with us here.

Does make us all think about the importance of looking after our treasured Ospreys, and to support them.in every way we can.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Last year (2022) I've got Laddie/LM12 returning on 13 March, his earliest arrival ever.  Maya on 15 March followed by Blue 33(11)m on 21 March and Mrs O at Tweed Valley on 22 March.  LOL, I notice that Mrs 7A at Esthwaite Water is also known as Mrs O.  I guess there must be quite a few out there!

Yes, RICHARD, and I'll do one asap - if no-one else gets thoroughly fed up with waiting on me and does it themselves - am a bit fluey, not able to galvanise - need energy for doin' me snaps

  • Sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather Scylla, hope you get your oomph back soon

  • In reply to Catlady:

Thanks, CATLADY - Strepsils and paracetamol have helped.

Regarding a late start to the new-season thread - as I mentioned the other day, I was planning to wait for ALAN PETRIE to give the go-ahead, tacitly, with his reports.  The weather must be off-putting our Ospreys, very sensible of them to hold off, I'm currently watching snow fallng on Lowes.
