So, we now enter August knowing that we will only have the pleasure of watching this beautiful family all together for a limited number of weeks.Both LP8 and LR0 have transformed into two strong, independent individuals. Their attentive parents have continued to provide for and nurture them and this, in turn, has given the juveniles a basis to continue their growth into full adulthood, wherever they decide to settle during the next couple of years.Last season, NC0 began her southerly migration on the 22nd August; Laddie on the 25th (these dates were their last webcam sightings). We can only hope that all of the 2022 family have safe, unhindered journeys to warmer climes, aided by fair winds as well as an abundance of fish along the way, and that we will welcome Laddie and NC0 back to this stunning Loch of the Lowes location in the spring of 2023.

11:20 NC0 left the birch and flew past the lower left side of the nest. LP8 shouted its displeasure!

At 12:07, Laddie arrived with a small fish. NC0, who had been on the nest for almost half an hour after delivering a fresh clump of grass, and LP8, who was still eating the earlier fish, didn't attempt to take the newest delivery from Laddie, so he ate it for himself!
While there, he began to chip. Nothing came of it
When he had eaten his meal, Laddie went to the centre of the nest, picked up, and ate, a small morsel of dropped fish
Took a look at the view
Then left the nest at 12:15
LP8 continued to eat
Intruder around at 13:10. NC0 alarm called and mantled. LP8 was still on the nest with her
No intruder seen. Both watchful
So pleased that Laddie returned Sandra and with a meal for his family too! He’s some boy!
13:34 NC0 mantling/alarm calling. Laddie arrived with a stick and then helped NC0 to defend

NC0 continued to mantle, Laddie chipped
Things calmed down. A sudden gust of wing blew a clump of grass off the nest
NC0 and LP8(!) then began to shout for fish
Laddie headed off
Shortly after Laddie had flown, LP8 lifted off the nest with its fish, wind assisted.
And landed back on the front edge of the nest
Ate some more
Then took the fish, and a clump of grass that was in its talons, off the nest
Heading towards the birch area
NC0 remained on the nest for some general nest tidying
14:19 NC0 has been fish shouting. Here, she was taking a break from all that exertion!
Edit: 14:24, NC0 chipping/alarm calling/mantling after laying down on the nest
NC0 flew from the nest at 14:30
She flew high and out of cam view to the right of the birch.
Distant chipping/alarm calling could be heard before she returned at 14:33

A brief catch up...
15:30ish There was another unseen intruder alert by NC0. She jumped down from the cam post and mantled/alarm called for a minute or two.
As can be seen in other pics after LP8 had left with the fish, it was still eating on the birch just before arriving back at the nest perch, with empty talons, at 15:52ish
While there, and on the nest itself, LP8 had the audacity to call for more fish! lol
16:30 LR0 finally made its first appearance since leaving the nest at 11:20
He left after spending around 7 minutes on the nest, fish calling for the majority of his stay
LR0 made a brief visit again at 17:47ish. He looked up to the cam post and shouted to whoever was up there for fish before heading off again

There was a fish delivery from Laddie at 18:58. LP8 was first to land on the empty nest, LR0 just about got there before Laddie arrived

LR0 was very quick to claim the fish
LP8 attempted to grab hold of it but LR0 turned with the fish in his beak
Laddie had a wonderful full crop!

NC0 delivered a fish at 19:17. Some 'tug-o'fish' between her and LP8
NC0 pulled the fish back

LP8 put its talons on the fish
NC0 shook her right leg which then released her grip on the fish. LP8 picked it up
With a couple of contact calls, NC0 left the nest
Both juvies eating their respective fish
