HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

The Full Moon is Wednesday, 16 February.

Here's what happened to me on Thursday evening. I thought you all might enjoy the story.

My toaster oven is on my enclosed porch (the electricity is newer and stronger there). After dark in the evening, I walked out on the porch to make a grilled cheese sandwich ("cheese toastie") for my supper. Right after I turned on the light, I heard a long, slow howl outside the front door. It was a coyote! It only howled once, and then I heard it move through the snow. It must have been warning its mate and any young that are still with them. Coyotes mate in February here, so they're active right now. They pair for life. The howl was powerful!

Everyone have a safe and serene week!

  • Thanks Diane for starting us off again. Wow a Coyote in the front garden, what an experience.

Harelady - enjoy your trip to see your grand-daughter. I bet she'll love the dinasaur set and the clothes you have bought her.

Its been a miserable day down here too. Still dau and I have been talking and decided that once I sell my OH's car we will have a holiday in the sun for a week during the Summer Holidays. Have to take it then as Dau works in a school.. Something to look forward too and recharge our batteries.

Getting used to being single again although its going to be hard getting rid of all his things but we will do it gradually.

    Have a good week all.
  • Tonight it is turkey roll with roast vegies followed by choc cream pie for dinner for two as it is OH’s birthday. Dau#2 phoned & they are going out to lunch later this week. Dau#1 won’t phone til evening as she is teaching.
  • You know you’re getting on a bit. . . when your bins go out more than you do. (OH’s birthday card)

Eventually you reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it. (Will Rogers)

Live your life and forget your age. (Norman Vincent Peale)

  • Good Morning. Happy Valentines Day to All, whether you have a partner or not.. I handed my OH a couple of mini choc eggs but I'm not holding my breath that he will get me flowers from the shop almost next door to where he gets his haircut this morning!

Happy Birthday to AQs OH, though a bit belated now.

Annette, we have to be at least double jabbed and as most of us will be over 60, I'm expecting a large proportion will be triple jabbed. As its in May, we are waiting to hear whether we have to take a test prior to leaving. We're going with Fred. Olsen line, who specialise in smaller ships so it's not huge - about 1200 passengers. Don't know how many people will be on board, though. Expecting to wear masks a lot of the time indoors. My OH and I have already committed to go by paying our balance, and are going to finalise our travel insurance today.

Lynette, what a good idea- you can both get some sun and it will do you the world of good. Nice to look forward to, too

  • LINDA - Thank you; not yet belated - we have finished dinner, dishes washed & OH has retired to stuff himself with chocs I gave him.. He, of course, never remembers Valentines Day. I'm about to watch Eastnor Castle - Heritage Restoration. The only travelling I do nowadays <sigh>.
  • Well, I have to take it back -- not had flowers from my OH for several Valentines or birthdays for quite a while, but he came home clutching a punnet of mushrooms for our meal tonight, and a bunch of mini roses!!

He's got plenty of Brownie points, as we used to say.

Picture of them once I had arranged them in a vase:

  • Tonight's menu:

Slice of melon with small sprinkle of sugar.

Fillet steak, grilled, with broccoli, mushrooms, & onion rings, accompanied by small jug of beef gravy (my OHs preference to sauce) and a few oven chips.

Slice each of lemon cheesecake from M&S.

    Tomorrow's menu:

    Fruit & Veg diet!!!!!
  • Brilliant, LINDY !
I've got lots of replies in my head, I hope that they will still be there tomorrow morning :-)
  • I'll come this evening, thank you, Lindy. My fruit and veg diet seems pretty constant!
  • Lindybird:   Glad you got some flowers - finally.  OH got me some classic red roses in spite of the fact that every year as Valentine's approaches I tell him how obscenely overpriced they are just for that one day.  It sounds awfully ungrateful to say I'd be just as happy with bunch of alstroemeria.  When and where are you going on that cruise - I forgot!

AQ;  Any of those bus tours lurking on the horizon?  Is your friend still unable to travel/drive?  Could you take off for a night or two on your own? I'm sure the house wouldn't fall down and it might do your OH good to miss you.  :-)

Lynette:  A week away sounds brilliant.  Somewhere where you can rely on a whole week of sunshine? Maybe Italy/Spain/Portugal?

    Hallo to all!
