Edit. I have just been looking at the records on the ukosprey web site and there is no indication that Blue80 and his mother did actually breed at Glaslyn in 2015, or any other year for that matter. The recorded pair for that nest that year, and subsequent years, was Aran and MrsG. Am I missing something here? Did they perhaps find a different place to nest from his natal nest?

You aren't missing anything, Aran took over. I put the link on to show inbreeding is not an issue.

I believe the point is that inbreeding is less of an issue where a population is genetically diverse. Despite our great numbers and apparent diversity humans, particularly those with recent ancestry outside Africa, have little real genetic variation.

Several related pairs were reported at Rutland including full siblings, half sibs and aunt/nephew pairings. It would be interesting to see if their was any difference in productivity between these and the unrelated pairs.

Are you saying that the Osprey known as MrsG, Aran's mate, was the same female that was Blue80's mother/partner who were seen earlier at the nest?

Mrs G has bred at Glaslyn since 2004, when sadly har chicks died. The Glaslyn website has loads of helpful information.
