25.10.21 - LR2 still in Southern Spain
As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
Unknown said:There could be up to 20 Ospreys in Poole the next few days. 10 translocated youngsters, CJ7, O22 and the regular influx of Ospreys passing through on migration.
I hope you see them, Richard :)
I hope that our 'colleagues' will be out there snapping them
IMAGICAT
Last evening - "21 Aug evening - LR2's 50-minute screechathon, inc poss intruder" - I'd guess it was NC0 on the campost, purely from the tone of voice.
L-o-n-g, but it's a tribute to LR2
Good morning all Checking back, Laddie delivered a live fish to LR2 at 7:12ish
He flapped about on the perch with it
Took it off to the birch

NC0 made an appearance at 7:50 and spent 15 or so minutes on the nest. She was fish calling. LR2 was on his branch of the birch
5 minutes into her stay, LR2 left the birch, flew past the back of the nest to land above the cam. He was quite vocal too
8:05 Off she went
Within a couple of minutes of NC0 leaving, Laddie delivered a headless fish (8:07). She flew in (screeching) quickly to take it from him
I didn't see where she headed off to
All the while, LR2 was shouting above the cam

Scylla, thank you so much for the vid (I've only just had a chance to watch it). It was a screechathon alright! Loved the way you were able to zoom in on him while he was on the perch and also with his fly-away. I did wonder last night if that would be his last appearance on cam, thankfully not
15:12 LR2 landed on the cam post, shouting. He flapped down to the nest less than a minute later.
A jump to the perch
At time of posting, he is on the perch calling for fish
He left the perch at 16:20, headed towards the trees on the far left and then veered left out of cam view
LR2 was only away for a short time and landed on the cam post (from behind the cam)
