As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
It was good to see LR1 with a full crop on the nest at 17:30
She was soon joined by LR2 who landed on the perch looking slightly wet
Shaking his feathers
A little after 18:50, Laddie arrived at the nest with a stick. LR2 was already there
LR2 went to claim what he thought was a fish but...
...then showed his annoyance by 'attacking' Laddie who flew off
19:55 LR2 has remained on the nest or, as at present, on the perch

20:35 LR1 came down to the nest from above the cam
She was joined by LR2 a minute or so later
The stick got in LR1's way when LR2 stood on it
Both shouting for fish
20:44
20:50
20:53 LR1 looked up above the cam for a split second and then flew off the nest
What a beautiful looking scene I don't know which LR is waiting quierly and patiently on the nest They were so still that I thought for a minute that the cam had stalled but then they slightly moved their head

Good morning Patily and all,
Yes, such an idyllic setting, Patily, nowhere better IMO. I believe it was LR2 in your lovely capture. Thank you
6:50ish, Laddie delivered a very much alive fish
Both went to claim but LR1 took it first
The fish was flapping and LR1 had difficulty keeping hold of it
It ended up over the edge of the nest
There was movement in the overhanging sticks on the left for a few seconds after
I haven't found any other fish brought to the nest so far. ENS at time of posting

11:45 Laddie to the nest, mantling. There were skydancing? calls about 20-30 seconds before he landed
Flapping and silently posturing
Possble left leg ringed intruder?? came onto the nest, Laddie flew off
NC0 or intruder? gave a couple of short calls on landing
'NC0 'on darvic?
Quietish chipping calls on departure and close by just after
A minute or two after both Laddie and ??? had flown, there were alarm calls and shadow interaction from above the nest. NC0 came down - mantling/chipping before flying off
Chipping/alarm calling
12:22 One is above the cam, alarm calls
12:24 Sound of it flying away
Comparison head markings: Could it have been NC0? Definitely her in the bottom pic
I'm reserving judgement
13:06 LR1 onto the nest shouting!
