As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
A brief visit by LR1 at 12:10ish, flying from the birch area. She was calling for fish
She was making quite a racket during and after her flight from the nest

LR2 on the nest calling for fish. He had been sitting on the perch, where he landed at 13:50ish
Rustling heard on the nest tree itself, I think. It also sounded like something was clearing its nose!
There was a headless fish delivery by NC0 to LR2 at 14:30ish
He had some bites from the fish before leaving with it
Both LR1 and LR2 (without fish) onto the nest just before 15:05
They appeared to mantle - no threat seen
LR1 looked damp
LR1 flew off. She didn't stay long at all
LR2 still there at time of posting
15:26 LR2 left the nest
At last! A fish delivery for LR1 at 15:50ish by Laddie.
LR2 had flown onto the perch, LR1 was above the nest but came down in time to claim the small fish
Part way through LR1 eating and LR2 fish calling, both went silent - was there a threat around?
They shot off the nest
LR1 did take the fish with her
16:36 A fish from NC0 - LR2 had this one
LR1 flapped down to the nest too late to take the fish
LR2 left the nest, after finishing his meal, at 16:52ish
17:00 At present, LR1 is still on the nest
17:02 A flapping fish from Laddie to LR1. LR2 flew in to late to make a claim
LR1 took hold of Laddie's talons as the fish flapped on the centre of the nest
She managed to grab hold of the fish
She took it off nest
