Continued from Manton Bay – July 2021.

2021 Season Summary: On 19 March, Blue 33(11) returned at 12:29 and Maya at 12:52. Three eggs were laid, #1 on 30 March at 11:45, #2 seen on 2 April at 07:34 and #3 on 5 April at 07:05. Sadly only two eggs hatched, the first on 8 May at 19:51 and the second on 10 May at 19:48, one being unviable. The chicks were ringed on 19 June. Chick #1, a male, was fitted with the blue darvic 096 and Chick #2, a female, was fitted with blue 095 . At 54 days old, Blue 096 fledged at 12:12 on 1 July and Blue 095, aged 53 days old, at 11:12 on 2 July. On 22 August at 09:10, Blue 095 aged 104 days old, set off on migration and 3 minutes later, 09:13, Blue 096 aged 106 days old left. Maya and Blue 33(11) remained and finally set off - Maya on 30 August and Blue 33(11) the next morning on 31 August.

11:08 095 finishes and cleans her beak
11:09 takes off
No sign of 096 or Maya as corvids appear squabbling over the fish!

12:22 095 has returned
and has some more fish
12:24 095 becomes alert and screeching
and flies off with the fish
And 096 is still here !! He is now 99 days old.
12:33 096 approaches the nest
brief landing
swiftly taking off
and briefly touches down again as 095 approaches with the fish
096 has flown as 095 approaches
095 remains on the nest and eats some more fish
12:47 095 finishes but remains, looking up and around, protecting the fish
13:04 095 settled, eats some more fish
13:28 095 finishes, then cleans her beak
and then flies off leaving the fish!
13:29 corvids squabble over the fish
and it goes over the edge!!
sadly no fish for 096 or Maya!!
13:51 33 on the nest and alert
threat passes quickly - 33 more relaxed
13:58 33 flies off - ENS
14:38 095 arrives on the nest
followed by Maya
095 screeching & wing flapping. She is not happy.
14:40 095 takes off
14:41 Maya follows
095 returns
16:19 095, who had been away for a bit, returns
mantling and wing flapping
16:22 now calling
