Continued from Manton Bay – June 2021.

The season so far: On 19 March, Blue 33(11) returned at 12:29 and Maya at 12:52. Three eggs were laid, #1 on 30 March at 11:45, #2 seen on 2 April at 07:34 and #3 on 5 April at 07:05. Sadly only two eggs hatched, the first chick on 8 May at 19:51 and the second on 10 May at 19:48, one egg being unviable. The chicks were ringed on 19 June. Chick #1, a male, was fitted with the blue darvic 096 and Chick #2, a female, was fitted with blue 095.

15:09 095 calling and Maya returns with the fish
and soon taken by 095
Maya flies off and 095 tucks in
after a couple of bits, 095 flies off leaving the fish
15:26 095 returns and eats some more on the nest
after a couple of minutes, 095 has had enough and once more leaves the fish
15:31 095 then flies off.
Hopefully 096 will arrive soon and pick up the fish!

I so wish they would leave it, even for one night that we could see the family flying to the nest and perhaps a sunrise!

quick catch up on earlier activities:
05:15 095 appears and calling for breakfish
095 stays for about half an hour then flies off
06:10 096 appears and mantling
096 soon settles and fish calling
06:22 095 approaches the nest!!
and attacks 096 - she does not want him on "her" nest!!
096 flies off
095 flies off after him and returns a minute later looking wet!

07:19 095 lands
33 approaches with a huge fish
quickly taken by 095
she keeps a firm hold and look out
and soon tucking in
