MANTON BAY - APRIL 2021

  • Karen, About the vehicle, here is what it says on their website: "The paths are wheelchair and pushchair friendly, and there is an electric buggy available for hire (please phone to book)." And here are the Lyndon Centre contact details from their website: Contact number: 01572 737378 and Contact email: info@lrwt.org.uk . I am not sure if because it is your dog who needs it, not actually you, if they would be willing to let you book the buggy, but fingers crossed they will be sympathetic to the needs of your dog and to your desperation to see the Ospreys in person while the current pair are both still here! Best of luck and I hope you can visit this year--no time like the present. Are you very far from Rutland? Will you need to wait until the whole country opens up in late June (provided things do not get worse with the virus situation!)? If you do wait until the chicks have fledged, then you could see all of them flying around. You have worked so hard posting pics and information for the rest of us about this nest that you certainly deserve to be able to see this pair of wonderful birds and as soon as possible!

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Hi Ann - thanks for all the info (also for your PM, Mike).

I am based near Edinburgh so quite a bit to travel. We are thinking about a chalet whereby we could divide our days taking turns to watch our dog while the other fished or in my case visited the osprey centre. Thankfully she is still in good health for her age and is still mobile albeit she walks much less and slower now due to arthritis so I believe she would very much be content lazing about and of course would get small walks.

But sadly life has sort of been on hold for us all and it will probably be next year before we know what is what.

But as I say I will get there one day :-)
  • The nest is looking really cosy with all the hay about!
