MANTON BAY - APRIL 2021

  • Unknown said:
Morning all from an absolutely freezing Manton Bay.
Windows and doors have to be open in the hide and it's -2 outside. We had a change over just after 6 so we have Maya on the eggs.. 33 looks to have flown from the bay.

Brrrr, rather you than me, SANDRA-C - I assume you are well wrapped up so you can continue to give us the benefit of your first-hand experience!... which we so value !!!

A strange sight this morning, must have been the clouds reflected on the water:

It turned out that the 'lake' was like a millpond:

Maya had to put a stick on 33's back:

  • Thanks for the report SANDRA Should have remember your long-johns LOL! Hpe you get a chance to warm up soon
Do you have any insider info you can share as to whether my favourite 30(05) has made it back? Annual gripe about how little info we are given Enjoy the rest of your shift
  • Morning, PATILY! We posted at the same time so I didn't see you until I went back to the thread list.
  • I have thermals, hat, scarf, gloves and hand warmers... Sat here covered by a sleeping bag I made sure I had with me and it's still cold.

Unfortunately I'm not able to share any information about the other ospreys :(. It's a shame the information isn't provided but when I get up to the visitors centre after my shift I will ask if I can tell you.
  • Since the changeover, Maya is on her favourite t perch near the nest
  • Màya has just been divebombing a swan that got way too close
  • Thanks Sandra. Freezing cold here too not too far from RW. I had to de ice the bird bath again this morning
  • Morning ALL and thanks for all updates and to Sandra C for all the morning reports.

Look forward to any additional info you can share Sandra as we now know there are 21 ospreys back  :-)

Meanwhile, Maya is incubating just now and has just given the eggs a turn

and quickly settles down in among all that lovely hay which no doubt will be keeping her and the eggs toasty!
