LOCH GARTEN UPDATES AND WEBCAM INFORMATION - 2021

More fish please

Have watched LG for a good few years now and the last 4+ have been quite sad .. for want of a better word. The last 24 hours has brought so much Hope to the nest and have been glued to screen since around 4.30 this morning, it all looks so promising. Just can be optimistic that they have a successful season

Am I right in thinking there is quite a distance for the male to go for fish.

The is the River Spey not far. Aviemore Lochan and Rothiemurchas both have stocked ponds to entice both osprey and fee paying photographers. Loch Pityoulish and Lochindorb which aren't that far as an osprey flies!

This really is looking good. AX6 has just brought in some bedding material, and is now faux mantling, while the new female food solicits. AX6 had a go at a large stuck stick before flying off , and returning with more sticks!! Pity about the sound, but I'm sure she continues to demand a fish

Not sure about no fish. Otters are frequently seen on the loch. The problem is the dark brown peaty substrate which makes it difficult for Ospreys to see the fish. The previous site manager pulled many a fine pike from Loch Garten!  

I hadn't appreciated that Richard was a keen fisherman!

Oh yes! Your summary of available fishing was great. Interestingly, EJ, when she was in residence, was twice seen fishing a very small lochan after the chicks had hatched which is only about 1 and a half km east of the nest.
