As this occurs so regularly I assume you don't give it a second thought any more if a fledgling doesn't return for a day. Must still be a bit worrying though.

The Ornithologist is more relaxed than me about this type of occurence, Richard! We have lost several chicks at fledging, and although more have eventually returned than not, it is still a worry.

A great result so far Jaydee, shame the ones on nest 8 can't be ringed, but understand why.

Just love the excited noises young ospreys make when flapping so enthusiastically
