Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 5, 2010

Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!

Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow.  :-)

  • Alan, great news:)))))))

    Wendy, quite right... lol

  • ALAN: You know one of my daughters is a horse rider...broken all sorts of bits and when she broke a couple of toes even drove herself to hospital. So OH might grizzle but not a lot of sympathy in a house that has been full of women.

Good news everyone. Hamish came through his op and is recovering strongly. He was ready to take on the world when he left the vets. Thanks for all your concern. I am over the moon.

Alan - so pleased - is he wearing a "lampshade"?

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi folks, thanks for all your news.

Love the picture of the gull in the snow and of the tit and tree sparrow. Keep em coming.

Yes, it was horrific scenes yesterday in London.  I'm all for peaceful demos but there's always someone who wants to bring violence in and that is not on.  It doesn't get you anywhere and I admire the police for their handling of the situation - they are, after all trying to keep the peace!!

Well, a thaw has set in for the time being, but for how long. Its predicted to get colder by the end of the weekend..

Got the Junior Church Christmas party tomorrow afternoon - should be a riot and lots of hard work keeping 40+ kids under control!! I'll be exhausted afterwards although I'm only helping. Annual Christingle Service on Sunday and the Brass Band Carol Service in the evening, should all be good.

  • Do hope Daughter 1's brother sorts himself out and sorry to hear he hasn't got a job at present. I'm sure something will work out. How about a voucher for him?

  • Still blissfully cool, so I attacked the lounge room this morn, springcleaning for Xmas. I dare say now lots of homeless spiders. I still haven’t received any Xmas lists from family and I dread going to the shops. OH said yesterday the city was full of single-minded people intent on buying gifts and everyone else get out of their way. Not too much Xmas spirit.

Bear cam news - Lily & Hope’s den cam is expected to start Dec 18.

  • Evening all: Very discombobulating day here - started one thing, then another, then got interrupted and started a third thing, forgetting about the first two. Started fourth and fifth things in between multiple phone calls and more interruptions. Forgot about first two things. Started laundry and found two-day old load in dryer, undried. Turned on dryer, then remembered original projects but accomplished not much in the way of completing them before it was time to check on the laundry.  Was wearing wireless headphones to listen to telly while taking laundry out of dryer.  OH was working on his computer - he spoke to me; I saw his mouth moving, went to remove headphones and managed to poke myself in the eye with hangar!!  By now totally frustrated, threw hangar on the floor and broke it while yelling naughty words.  Very grown up, yes? No.  One of the reasons I was so frustrated was that the Panasonic repair man brought our telly back - I'd called to see if it was at all usable over Christmas given the three-week wait for the replacement part. He arrived thoroughly exasperated with Panasonic; said he'd spent 40 minutes on the phone and was given three different numbers to call for the part and that they had the part somewhere in a warehouse but no-one knew where and they weren't really bothered. And no, they weren't going to call the customer to explain the delay, but they'd call him with more info, except they didn't call him. As far as he's concerned, we should take the telly back to Costco and let them fight it out with Panasonic.  Wonderful, just what we need. More aggro in the technology department.  Also today, found the broken remnant of my nice terra cotta bird feeder that I put out the other week for the mourning doves - apparently broken by landscape laborers.  Aaaack!  I'm sure the landscape company will replace it, but it was old and nice and big.  Blech!  Then, come dinner time, managed to get the tempermental (returned) Panasonic to actually show a picture to see...riots in London!!  Charles and Camilla subjected to cries of "Off with their heads!"  I mean, what is the world coming to?  Are these students or just bored and/or unemployed young men (a dangerous combo)?  All quite amazing - I thought only the French rioted, but what do I know?

Alan: Wonderful that Mr. Hamish came through his op with flying colors!  Nice to hear good news.

Off to bed feeling still peeved and craving a giant slice of carrot cake, but nothing remotely resembling it is on hand.  Sigh. Still, tomorrow is another day.  Take care all; watch out for the Christmas shoppers!

  • Saturday morning everyone. Slightly snowing now and temp -11C here so it is normal wintry day ahead. Yesterday we had horrible NE wind which made the -6C feel much colder. I am having glorious four days off duty - yea. Won’t do anything today or maybe shall write Christmas cards but absolutely nothing more straining chores LOL Tomorrow shall go to mum’s and take her out to lunch and visit sis as well (if she doesn’t come to lunch with us).

Thanks for all posts and pictures etc. Can’t make individual replies for everyone but appreciate them all!

Margobird, great Christmas card, just lovely. Forwarded it to a Finnish site

Annette, they sell those ‘sun-light-lamps’ in the shops. I promised myself last winter that I will get one for this winter but haven’t done that yet, probably been too tired to go to shops LOL. Oh, just read your latest post - what a day you have been having… Hope today - (err, tomorrow there) will be better!

AQ, glad your weather has been nice for you. OG and Paul, thanks for lovely photos. Hope BrendaH enjoys her Nutcracker, shopping etc. this weekend. And Linda will surely enjoy seeing Tomasz.

Dibnlib, hope your cold will be history very soon. Alan, I’m so glad Hamish is OK. Sending warm thoughts and hugs for Diane. Each and everyone, take care and stay warm and safe!

  • ALAN   Glad to hear Hamish is doing well. Lots of hugs for him.

  • Alan ... excellent news about Hamish ... so glad to hear it!
