Our dining room has a lot of through traffic and is also the first place for dirty feet coming out of the garden, via our conservatory. He said he wants to clean everywhere he can before winter really sets in.

We hired one earlier this year - they are really good.  Brace yourself for the racket, though.

I know, Clare. We've used one before, but its darned cheaper than "getting a man in". Good job my OH is still active - he will hate it when we have to pay someone!

LINDY - I have to admit it, we've always had the carpets professionally cleaned. Not every year because everyone, even the children, take shoes off at the back and front doors. Of course, not having any pets makes a difference !

I'm losing the plot. Lost my glasses, tried to look down the side of the bed, couldn't see (!), found the torch on my phone. Eventually found specs in a waste paper basket, not down the side of the bed. How they got in the bin I'll never know. Then couldn't work out how to switch torch off. In my defence, it is an iPhone which was daughter's old one and haven't really got to grips with it yet. Had to phone son who talked me through it! How could I put the torch on and then forget what I did ?!!!

Never mind, Heather. We all do it.

Couldn't find my glasses this morning, as I took them off to put cream on my face. Searched all over the floral patterned duvet cover on the bed with my hands, as can't see without the glasses, then saw my glasses looking at me from the windowsill!
