Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]
Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.
Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .
Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.
Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.
Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.
A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.
Evening ChrisyB I don't normally drink anything other than a glass of wine with a meal. Make my OH laugh when we do go in a pub and I ask for lemonade. I think I probably drank enough in my younger days when I was in the Army and had enough to last a lifetime. OH's Mum suggested I try it and I am glad I did as it is very warming when it is so cold outside. OH has now got a bottle of ginger wine in and pleased that I am having a "proper" drink. He likes his whisky neat but I can't manage it like that.
Margobird
Likke the pic of the coos Alan. Much to our amazement we saw some Highland Cattle on our way up to London yesterday. Not too many of this breed round this area.
Alan – love the Heilan’ Coo photo – always think the fluffy calves look like teddy bears. Here is one from Auchgourish Gardens, near Boat of Garten, June 2006:
It's good to see more of the black ones coming back these days - I think some breeders seem to be breeding for the original darker colour, although this calf's father is actually a white one.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi everyone.Haven't posted for a couple of days as I got a bit sidetracked. Like many other places, the weather is very snowy here, so getting anywhere on foot requires extra effort. I certainly don't envy drivers in the current road conditions.A very warm welcome to any new posters. I can guarantee this place is a lot of fun.Margobird: I'm absolutely delighted you've been chosen to volunteer at LG.AQ: Thanks for starting this weeks Weekly Chat. Sorry you didn't get the friendliest greeting from GS.Annette: Glad you managed to get back online and hope your computer troubles are over for good soon.Linda: Well done for finishing 3rd in the quiz. I'm sure if your team had as many people than the other teams, you'd have won. Thanks for another brilliant Monday Smile.Wendyb: That must've been great to see a Brambling. Alan: I like your suggestion for solving Annette's computer problems. LOLTerryM: Glad you enjoyed your weekend away playing music.OG: Hope your cold vanishes quickly. Thanks to everyone for all your great posts and brilliant pics. Now I'm away to tell that Abominable Snowman to stop playing with the bird feeders.Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Lovely pic original goldfinch. Glad to see some posts here tonight. Not watching TV as recording programmes that we both like to watch and OH is away in Exeter tonight. He made it down there safely thank heavens. Just keeping my fingers crossed now because they are forecasting snow for the region and he will have a terrible journey back if that happens.
Ho Heron 77 i imagine you have been trying to get bird baths defrosted today. the birds in my garden are eating so much and I have to go out and get more tomorrow. Can't let them go hungry in all this cold weather. Take care and keep warm.
Lynette - Incognito in choir LOL
Linda - I dare not comment on your Monday Smiles. The Equal Opportunity Police might get me. LOL
Dibnlib - A difficult time with your Mum. My mil gets in a panic when any official letter arrives, ringing for OH to pay the bill or she’ll go to gaol. Usually it’s just some propaganda announcement.
Joan - Can I send my Xmas cards & list to you? LOL
Alan - Is your assistant a "hunt & peck" typist?
Happy Birthday to Margo’s OH.
Wendy - Had to laugh at your image of doing a crossword online.
More wonderful snow pics. I hope you are all coping with the weather. At least the internet provides a window on the world - for those with electricity. Some more computer smiles.
Customer: Hi, this is Celine . I can't get my diskette out. Tech support: Have you tried pushing the Button? Customer: Yes, sure, it's really stuck. Tech support: That doesn't sound good; I'll make a note. Customer: No, wait a minute . . I hadn't inserted it yet . . . it's still on my desk . . . sorry . . . . !
Tech support: Good day. How may I help you? Male customer: Hello . . . I can't print. Tech support: Would you click on 'Start' for me and . . . Customer: Listen pal; don't start getting technical on me! I'm not Bill Gates.
Tech support: Your password is the small letter 'a' as in apple, a capital letter V as in Victor, the number 7. Customer: Is that 7 in capital letters ?
So overcast this morn and too early for my meagre flowers to show their faces. So to cheer you here is a pic snapped 2008 at Cawdor Castle. Take care all.
Paul – hello again, had wondered what you were up to! Hope the new shed is keeping out the snow! Thanks for good wishes re cold – it really is only a minor one, and I am determined my immune system will find a way through the meds to spring into action against it!
Margo – I’m sure your OH would not have gone if he had doubts about returning safely. Do be careful when you go out for bird food tomorrow – we don’t want those black and purple bruises again!
AQ – great computer helps again! Lovely Lupins at Cawdor Castle. Our pink one tried to have a third attempt (after June and September) last week - I suspect the bud is frosted by now. Here are some Lupins growing “wild” at the entrance to Highland Wildlife Park in June 2006:
Hi, catching up on todays posts.
Lots of snw pics - WendyB and Alicat - although it looks picturesque it must be quite difficult to move around. Love the one of the old railway bridge across the Spey.
Lindybird - thanks for your Monday smile pics
Aqua - for the flower pics and OG for yours too.
Annette - like the one of the beach and the marina - oh for a bit of warmth and sun, but hopefully that will eventually come.
Only had a sprinkling of snow down here so far but a moderate snowfall is forecast for tonight into tomorrow so we shall wait with baited breath and see what the morning brings us!!!!! Hopefully off to the gym for our weekly visit tomorrow - I do love my swim.. My bad knee is feeling it with this cold weather but when I get in the water for a swim it eases it considerably.
Alan - the waxwings are about then, just not visiting your neck of the woods yet?

Good grief: See what happens when you all get snowed in over there! Masses of posts to catch up on. Thanks everyone for lovely snow pix and various flowers and, of course, coos.
AQ: 300 panes of glass to clean? I bet you wish you hadn't counted. And no, the real meaning of Christmas is not a springcleaned house, regardless of which hemisphere you're in. :-) Maybe Access just looked complicated? I'm sure it must come in handy for your research (she said hopefully). Ha! Liked the "five stars" password. I wouldn't worry about the Equal Opportunity Police - remember those images of women drivers Lindybird posted a couple of weeks back? Turn about is fair play. :-)
Lindybird: Oh dear, still waiting are you? Sweetpea will arrive when you've finally stopped thinking about it. Fork through the styrofoam thingy very elegant I'm sure. But a bit worried about that flat screen being so close to a door. :-) Have to agree about Leslie Nielsen - loved those Naked Gun movies; completely silly. I can imagine how those pix would make you feel warmer; interesting since I look at the snowy pix and think "how lovely."
Margobird: So good you had a nice time in London. Roasted brie - yum! What is a whiskey mac? (Whisky - not whiskey - according to Wendy, and ginger wine??) Heron had devised something for his bird bath - something about lining the bath with plastic wrap (or something) so he didn't have to defrost it? Maybe it's something you could copy so you don't have to spend so much time defrosting yours. I remember on cold mornings when I was growing up, we'd wake up to find the milk (in a bottle) on the doorstep with the foil lid balanced on top of a frozen column of milk. And seems to me the birds would sometimes peck their way through it? Does anyone else remember that?
WendyB: Who is old Colin when he's at home? Sounds like a neighbor. (And yes, bridge photo lovely.)
OG: Aha! So OH does the databases in your house. My OH is very good with Excel and there's no project he won't undertake without first creating an extensive spreadsheet......... :-( :-)
Night all; take care.
