Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.

A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.

Morning, All: Very very cold here, one of the coldest nights we've had. All the trees are now laced not with snow, but with frost. Have taken some pics & will put some on here later.

Must go get dressed as lots to do today - we are hoping to travel down and see young Sweetpea at last, this afternoon. Yesterday was a very tiring day for the new family; they were told she could come home with the baby but after Son hung around the hospital all day waiting for her release, she did not make it home until early evening. We were frantic for news, but of course they won't let you have your mobile switched on in the hospital. All were ensconced snugly in their beds last night so I'm hoping they've had a good night.
Hope you are all keeping warm and snug, too & that your snowmen are sitting around a camp fire, like Heron's!!
Forgot to say; Thanks to Wendy for the lovely snowy pic of the osprey nest at Arne.
Minus 7 at 8am, with some fog visible, no wind at all. Now minus 6, light breeze, cloud breaking up and the pale yellow orb beginning to show through. Seem to have gained from now being a designated school route: road has been gritted earlier and now (after kids set off to school!) grounds maintenance guys are here with a trailer of grit/salt and two buckets doing the pavements – unorthodox, but, hey, who cares about that! Still won’t go out to Church coffee morning or Antiquarians evening meeting – only making necessary journeys.
Chrisy – good to ‘see’ you yesterday evening – take care on that ice.
AQ – thanks for new brainteasers – got some of them. Good for you, doing your own recipe! Sorry about transport probs.

PATRICIAT think you recommended Nevis Bakery. We have had both ginger and cherry over the past 2 weeks and yes, they are excellent. Best cherry cake ever. they can be so disappointing, but not this time 12/10

Morning all ... the world is a very beautiful place this morning! We had more snow overnght and freezing temperatures ... the sun is shining and there is no wind ... so everything is laden with snow and sparkling in the sunshine! If the sun wasn't shining I might be ready to tear my hair out...this is day 10 of our snow. The blackbirds were lined up on the fence waiting for food, and hardly waited for me to fill the trays ... soon followed by the usual suspects ... magpies, jackdaws and collared doves. The smaller birds usually arrive a bit later. As I type this, the starling squadron has arrived ... and my robin!
Linda - I hope you get to see Tomasz Adam today and that the proud parents ... and baby ...had a good night.
Alan - lovely pic of the wagtails ... i used to get them visiting the garden but haven't seen any for a couple of years.
OG - lovely bird photographs as usual ... I particularly like the robin one .. it would make a lovely Christmas card :-)
SheilaFE - glad to hear your aunt is progressing well in hospital ... sounds like she may have to move to somewhere different ... but seems like she is a very independent lady!

I wondered about that - we are the same - only once travelled up for Christmas - that was 21 years ago when first Grandchild arrived in Aberdeen. Son plans to get here from Grantown if he can, but may fall foul of Job Centre if he can't get back, so if travel is possible but doubtful, has been invited to his Conon Bridge sister instead.
Joan - you make it all sound so beautiful despite further snow and getting to day 10. Sun seems to be losing the battle here right now, getting dark - only day 7 with us. White stuff just started falling, looks more like sleet than snow.
Lindy - when replying to Dibnlib, I was thinking about arrival of our first Grandchild 21 years ago in Aberdeen - just realised Grandson#1 was born 1st December, so shares a birthday with yours! Ours will be graduating next summer and getting married in July!
