Weekly Chat, Sunday November 21, 2010

Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.

  • Totally agree Wendy. They were so boring during the Federer v  Soderling match that they kept going on about the England football teams hard luck stories. The highlight of the match was Maradonna in the crowd giving the camera a wave with his 'hand of god' LOL

  • Hello All. Very cold here but dry and not any way near as bad as some of you are having today. 2c at the moment. The wind makes it feel colder.

A very happy Thanksgiving to all our friend across 'the pond'.    Diane, Love the bald eagle chicks picture

Hello Eagle-eye and welcome. I see this is your first post but you have been a member since Dec. 2009.

Margo, I am so relieved to see that you have received your letter of acceptance at last. I really am so happy for you. I also think you should fly to Inverness. We flew last time we went and then hired a car, but I am sure there is public transport.

Linda, lovely photograph of you and 'the hat'.  You look very chic in it.

jsb, It seems unusual that you are only seeing one parakeet. I wonder where the rest are staying and why they haven't found your feeders yet.

osprey, What a lovely picture of your adorable little boy in the snow. I guess you had trouble getting him to return indoors

Gary / Annette, I have been reading about the fun and games with the TSA people and the travelling public.. I don't think you should try the Christmas pud idea !!

Wendy. Thanks for the Winter Wonderland photographs.

  • Hmmm. I can't reply to everyone (sorry!), but  wanted to hit some of the highlights of the week.

Margo: Yay! Congratulations on being chosen to go to LG. I know it has been your dream, and I'm so, so, so happy for you!

Wendy: Lovely photos of the river Spey! You have a lot of snow already!

Gary: I am sooo glad that you (and Clover) were not injured during the incident with the horse trailer tire. Could have been awful. The horsey photo was just beautiful! My Dad liked it, too. That horse is a gorgeous color. Congrats on the snow plow for the tractor. That is very exciting. Does that mean I can count on you to plow out my driveway lane this winter?!? LOL!!!

Tiger: I really enjoyed the photos of the Northern Lights. It is one of my top lifelong goals to see the Aurora Borealis sometime before I die. The lights are very, very rarely visible here and not in full splendor, and I've never seen the spectacle. Really must do it someday.

Alan: Lovely collared dove. They look rather like our mourning doves. I meant to tell you that I enjoyed the pic of the osprey carrying two fish. Well done by that birdie.

Osprey: Such an adorable child!!! Four boys for you, eh? What a great family.

jsb: So nice to see you back! I had been wondering where you were. Lucky you to have a wild parakeet. I would like to see that.

  • I have been watching the tennis and If anyone is interested, Murray plays again tonight at 8pm.

  • Brenda H: I am still a bit grumpy because of my Winter Wonderland so my prediction  for the tennis that Andy will win the first set and as that is all he needs to go through will lose the next 2!!

  • Good afternoon all haven't been posting as I have been having quite a bit of trouble with this sight it would allow me to read all the comments and see the pictures but it wouldn't allow me to reply to anything. A lot has happened on here since I last posted and thanks to all we have been posting. Margobird congratulations on getting to go to LG in June I am sure you will have a great time. Diane I was sorry to hear that your dad is having problems again and I hope things improve before the really cold weather sets in.

Gary the situation in this country about the aircraft carrier saga and also the situation at the bases in Moray shows that either the MOD or the government aren't fussy whether this country is able to defend itself is not a priority. They signed an agreement with the French to share an aircraft carrier which is oftener in dock with something wrong with it. Rant over.

  • I know what you mean Wendy, but the snow is always lovely to look at, as long as you don't have to go out. I certainly don't want a repeat of last winter but it has started the same way. Yes, Murray doesn't have to do much hard work tonight. I was supposed to go this year, but from what I have seen, I don't think I have missed much. It really has not been worth the admission charge.

  • Whoa,  I've been out for a couple of hours and there has been soo much written on here, today!

Thanks to Alan for peregrine picture, and also lovely snow scenes from Wendyb - what a lovely place to live, in spite of the weather!

margo!    What news!  That's just great!  I hope you jigged around the kitchen, I would have done!  Now you have something extra special to look forward to all through this winter and spring.  I'm so happy for you.

Welcome to Eagle-eye  who has been on here for the 1st time- it was strange about the ships when the news came out, but "one of those things", really in that it couldn't be cancelled as it was too late. Let's hope that some time in the future they can be properly used and we can be respected as a great seafaring nation, again.

Lovely pic of your son in the snow, osprey - he is, as someone said, adorable..  Christmas won't be quiet in your house, will it!

Sorry your Dad is unwell, Diane - hugs to you both. Hope you can enjoy a little celebration of Thanksgiving today.

georgeg wrote whilst I was writing this - nice to see you again, george.  lovely pic of your son's cat.

  • Linda, we are waiting to hear the important news. Did you enjoy Harry Potter ?  OH will definitely be going to see it and will insist that I join him !

  • Lynette: I also do all of my holiday shopping on the Internet. No way am I going to the over-crowded stores! I hope you receive the feeding station that you want for Christmas.

Patriciat: Congratulations to you and Tweed. I hope the economic crisis in Ireland isn't impacting Northern Ireland terribly. I don't know how connected your economies are. I've been listening to a lot of the news about the Irish crisis. Just awful for everyone.

Liz and AQ: I just love to hear folks play those big drums!!! I have several drumming CDs, and I listen to drumming often; it energizes me. I think it's the ancient Celt in me who appreciates the sound.

Brenda: Nice to hear from you and well done on getting your Christmas cards written. Will you do mine now? LOL!

dibnlib: I hope your healing is quicker than expected and you're fully mobile soon!

Sheila: Congratulations on your new car. Yay! Hope it is everything that you had hoped.

Alicat: Lovely pictures of the swans you posted a few days ago!

Paul: I so enjoyed your post about the shed construction! LOL Interesting about your starlings and their mimicry talents. I have a blue jay who can sound just like a red-tailed hawk. He loves to scare all the other birds, so they freeze in place and he can claim all the food.

Gary: I just saw your post to me about Pres Obama's visit to Indiana. No, he did not swing by and visit me! Dang it. I could have given him a lot of advice on a wide range of political issues! Can't imagine why he didn't make time to stop here. LOL LOL

Auntie: Sounds like winter is upon you already. Hope you and your tiny car stay safe on the roads. I so loved your story about the Fox's Fire -- the magical fox who sweeps the sky with his tail. Beautiful! Hope you aren't working too hard, and that everything is going well for you.

Joan: I really enjoyed your photos of the Ark Royal. Just fabulous. I especially like the last pic of the statue and the helicopter. Very compelling and artistic photo. Thanks for watching Trucker Steve in my area. I thought sure he would exit off of the highway and stop in the town where I shop. There aren't many opportunities along that prairie road to get fuel, etc., and I thought he'd have to stop, but he blazed right on by. That breaking waves picture you took of the North pier at Tynemouth is extraordinary!!! My Dad and I both enjoyed that one. Thanks for posting it. Just beautiful!

Wendy: Congratulations on getting your new laptop. Such fun.

Chloe: Thanks for the countdown clock for the server move! I wish I had your technological abilities. Are you self taught or did you study computer science?I used to edit some computer books, but the technology has passed me by now, I'm afraid.

I got a new printer yesterday (I bought my old one in 1998!). The new one is a 4 in 1 wireless (print, copy, scan, and fax). I may try out the scan function and post a couple of my older photos after I get a chance to read the manual and get it all installed.
