It is that time for a new thread again. We continue from Weekly Chat, Sunday, October 17, 2010 Last week had so many fascinating topics I am not sure what should be carried forward.
It was such an eclectic mix, my memory is of birthdays, bears, steam engines, hedgehogs, hummingbirds, osprey pictures, computers, relativity, quantum mechanics and cats of all types. No doubt it will be repeated in the week to come.
Oh I forgot. Outlaws and inlaws! :)

Good mornng auntie thanks for your kind thoughts. Weather here today wet and cold. I could not sleep last night and got up at 12.30 and at that time we had a hard frost. Bit warmer now but I would rather it was cold and brght. Take care.

Hello aquilareen lovely photos. Had to smile at the thought of you wondering whether you would poison me with a plant remedy for getting some sleep. I finally went back to bed at 2.30 only to wake again at 3.30. Guess who will be taking a nap later today. OH is in Glasgow attending a friend's funeral in Glasgow and will not be back until late this evening and I do want to be up when he returns as I think he will need company. Spoke with him earlier this morning and it was pouring with rain. It is a burial and the family wanted it to be a bright day as they wanted it to feflect what sort of person he was. Loved to be out in the sun.
Forgot to say I needed those smiles and I have just been out in the garden in the pouring rain and my sparrows are in full voice, another reason to smile. they don't seem to mind it is so wet.
Morning all,
Thanks for all the nice photos AQ and Djoans. Everyone else thanks for the chat and links etc.
Weather here today is dreich and miserable. The rain started just after I took Hamish for his early morning walk and has continued ever since. Like everyone else I prefer it to be dry and cold. Not many birds around this morning but we did have a couple of goldfinches on the feeders earlier. No further signs of the hedgehog since saturday night. I expect they will be going into hibernation soon.
Morning all. Yup! ‘Tis wet! Got off to late start – don’t like Tuesday – it’s the day I have to take 10 tablets at breakfast. Now decided I really must go back on anti-histamines – only normally take them April through September, but been sneezing badly for four weeks – anything that can possibly irritate is doing so. Son phoned – he had a BT man come with a transponder to start to trace the flat’s phone line preparatory to connection. He’s also received some encouragement about involvement with the High School. OH had a phone interview by local newspaper re his comments about poor broadband speed in our area – they want to come and photograph him at his computer! Meanwhile, I have some Canada Cakes in the oven – just beeping at me!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Paul the psychic octopus is dead! Sad news. I guess no one saw it coming! See here.
Afternoon all haven't been posting as I have been quite a bit of difficulty with the site and my broadband as when I try to go onto reply the site just closes down. I have enjoyed all the chat and pictures. Dibnib enjoyed your Boxer picture although I think boxers look sorry for themselves at all times. Tiger I don't think I would trust a lion incase it was hungry.
The weather here is much the same as everywhere else a bit dreich and not very nice to be standing at a graveside. SiL is getting her life back to normal and is getting a lot of support from her neighbors and friends who are keeping her busy.
Hope if the weather is a bit better tomorrow to go to Loch Leven Larder to stock up on some of their goodies.
Just heard on the news that there has been another tsunami in Indonesia with quite a few dead and more than 500 missing and we often complain about the rain.

Afternoon all. Just come back from a trip to Hauxley Nature Reserve, up the coast from here. It was pouring with rain first thing, so we left it until nearer lunchtime to go ... and I am so glad we did ... because I saw my very first real live otter!!! I was so excited ... in fact I am still 'buzzing'. We were in a hide and I spotted it disappearing up a little slope .... OH said he didn't think it would be an otter ... but it re-appeared a few minutes later and we were treated to 'The Otter Show' for about 20 minutes right in front of us. :-)) Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo because we were looking right into the sun and there was a real 'glare' on the water.
Tiger - sad news about Paul the octopus! Wow ... that was some hug :-)
OG - not good news about all the sneezing.
margobird - sorry you had a bad night ... an afternoon nap sounds just the idea! I hope your OH arrives back safely and is not too distressed.
AQ - more great photos from your trip ... very interesting, I am learning such a lot. ... and more great smiles ... the instructions one is definitely me.
Thanks to everyone for chat etc
Take care
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!
