Is Tiger ok!

I don't know if I've missed Tigers posts recently. But I'm sure i haven't seen Tiger post on here for a while. I hope Tiger’s ok! Has anyone any news about Tiger?

Regards,

Ian.

  • He's fine. Limpy's seen him posting on Facebook.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • See that he's posting quite regularly on Osprey sites on Facebook!

  • Hi Ian

I am ok thank you. Nice to be missed but you would have seen me do a lot of posting on the Port Lincoln nest.

I have to catch up on normal things at this time of year.

I got an interesting enquiry yesterday. It was about Henry that wonderful Loch Garten male from 2003 to 2007.
  • Good to see you, Tiger. What was the enquiry about Henry?

That teaser was Tiger's way of letting us know he's on form, Clare Grin

  • Oh I was being asked if Henry was the only adult osprey with amber eyes. I said Yes as far as I know. Although there is a suspicion that Tegid may have amber eyes.
  • Monty had deep amber eyes.

This, from Dyfi on 11 April 2019:

'After the excitement of seeing Tegid (Z1/16) yesterday afternoon we were able to look back through the recordings to check his eye colour and compare it to that of Monty and Telyn. Although Telyn is not Tegid's mother she does display typical adult osprey eye colouring so is a useful comparison. Monty, with his unusual eye colouration, is of course Tegid's father. All three of these pictures were taken within half an hour of each other to try and ensure light conditions didn't alter the colour we see in each bird's eye.You can see that Tegid's eyes are amber in colour. They are lighter than Monty's but darker than Telyn's.'

  • I'd like to wish you a very happy birthday, Tiger! Hope you're OK in this latest lockdown.

  • Yes, Tiger's birthday today: many happy returns, Tiger!
  • Oh Happy Birthday Tiger, enjoy as best you can.
