Evening all: Off to check previous week's posts.

  • Diane. I am so glad you like the Harvest Moon picture. I immediately thought of you when I saw it.

In my case there is actually a material difference between the property I was born in and spent the first seven years of my life and the next eleven years where I attained adulthood. The first property was not owned by us but the second property was and is still in the extended family.  Mind you the "shrinkage" phenomena applies more to the first property than the second one.

I notice that the bears are getting for hiberation. It suggests that winter is on its way.

Thanks ever so much for the fireball video. It is really good.

AQ  Yes it does include human tigers. Last I heard they were collecting money for me! :)

  • Morning Everyone, and Happy Sunday!

Have just had a v. quick 'read' thru' of  the above, but sadly no time to comment as I'm off out again!!   Will come back on later, I promise.....  Meanwhile here is lovely quote I found in the newspaper recently:

"I meant to do my work today -
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me."           Richard LeGallienne  (English Poet 1866-1947)

Ahem, sorry to disillusion you Tiger, but..... :)) Besides, you may get eaten saying things like that :)

  • Good morning all and Lindybird  do you ever have time to relax.  Loved the quote.

Before I forget Happy Birthday Heron 77  for 3 October.

Annete do have a lovely break I guess you can do with it.

orginal goldfinch glad you had a nice day out yesterday.

It is a bright and sunny morning, a bit fresh but so lucky to have the sun.  I sit iny my conservatory basking in the warmth as the sun shines in most of the day.  I have at last finished the marathon washing sessions.  What a relief to have caught up.  I have spent the first part of the morning packing away summer clothes and getting all my warm jumpers and winter skirts out.  Winter is not my favourite time I have to admit, and when the clocks go back I am so happy when we pass the shortest day and look forward to Spring and lighter mornings and nights.

Hope all are having a good day with plenty of sun.

  • Diane, thank you (not!) for that man climbing the mast, I definitely felt queasy before the end!

Off to near Hexham soon for a study day on Brahms' 4th symphony, see you all later.  We had some frost last night,  the sky was very clear and Jupiter very bright.

  • Good afternoon all just catching up with all the posts and pictures. It's cold here as well but at least the sun is shinning with a slight wind so have a washing out on the line. Yesterday took SiL and her sister shopping at the big Tesco in Dunfermline. We went along the coast road to Dunfermline and stopped between Burntisland and Aberdour to admire the view across the Forth to the Pentland hills and the two two bridges in the distance. After the shopping called into Vane Farm for a cuppa and to get some bird food. The geese have arrived there and the the count seems to be approx three thousand. I have put my name down to go to the goosewatch in two weeks time and will have to set my alarm as you have to be at Vane for 6am, you do get tea and a roll when you get there and I can always go back to bed when I get home.

  • Love the pics george! The first is very dramatic. I bet the gorse in the foreground looks lovely in Spring.

    The goosewatch sounds good.

  • A few years ago the humble house sparrow seemed to have virtually disappeared from my area. However, they seem to have made a surprising recovery....

  • ChloeB   You missed out one saying....you haven't seen the cats have you?  :) :)
