Hi all. Off to read last few posts of previous week.
Good Morning All. It is dry this morning but definitely cooler and windy.
Yesterday we did our food shop and then went out to lunch at a gardens/ nursery ( which I don't think I should name) where we also buy our bird food, who have always produced excellent food, but we were surprised to be met at the entrance by a French lady, who asked had we reserved a table. We had our lunch and even when we left, there were very few people there. They do get spring/ summer visitors, who arrive in coaches but this has never stopped us having lunch there, and in the colder months, they rely on' local trade'. They had increased their prices and I fear, from how empty it was, are now discouraging folk from going there for their lunch. They are not open for evening meals, so it seems a funny time of the year to change everything. I still enjoyed a lovely steak and salad !
Lynette, I guess we may not see you very early today after your party last night, but I am sure you had a great time. Do have a good holiday.
ChloeB, Sounds as if you were having some bad storms. Enjoy today's dry weather.
OG, We turn off our computers and wi-fi modem during a thunderstorm. Last year we needed a new wi-fi modem as it was damaged during a storm. Hope you are enjoying your day in Edinburgh.
Margo, I prefer to be out in a thunderstorm. I think it goes back to when we were children and our Dad would get us to watch the storm as he didn't want us to be as frightened as Mum. She would draw all the curtains so she couldn't see the lightning. Sorry about your husband's friend. He is so young. My Dad was only 49 when he died. So young for Mum to become a widow as well.
Dibnlib, Hope you enjoyed the wedding. We always put our last dog in kennels from when he was a pup. He was always well cared for and would always greet the kennel girls as old friends but then was always glad to see us when we returned home. When he suddenly became old though, for the last year of his life, we didn't have a holiday, as he no longer enjoyed even being in the car.
Sorry I haven't replied to everyone, but thankyou for all your news. Enjoy today and take care of yourselves.
This is an interim reply as I have just caught up to page 9 and have to go out now, will be on again later I hope.
So sorry to hear your sad news Alan, that was very quick. My thoughts with you all.
Thanks for the pic of Jasper, AQ, very handsome. Re your hair still being “up” if you hadn’t brushed it out, I often wonder about those stories of Marie Antoinette and the rest of the French court with their elaborate hairdos (women and men) and the creatures living within. I would be scratching like mad!
Yes, Annette, I don’t think Lightning lives up to his name, was he very lively as a kitten?
OG, enjoyed reading your Sweetheart Abbey story, thanks. How about living with an old building just behind? Did you have cake? More info required!

Good aftetnoon Lynette do hope holiday preparations are going well and again I hope you enjoy the party tonight.
Lovely picture of one of your cats, doing what cats do and that is just relaxing and chilling out. When we were children we had a cat that loved to get on the bed and under the eiderdown to sleep. No matter how many times my Mum chased him out he still managed to do most of his sleeping there.

Thanks for the pics of the that gorgeous little squirrel and also the wild dog. I watch this site quite a lot now as our ospreys have left us.
Hi Annette just thought of something else OH does and that is he sorts and packs his own clothes for holidays. I am so lucky, it sounds as though I am a complete lady of leisure but it just gives me much more time to do housework and cooking which is my part of the deal. Have a good weekend.
Hello auntie and nice to see a post from you. We have stunning weather today even if it is a bit chilly. I always feel so much better when the sun is out. I agree no good cleaning windows in the rain. I used to have a window cleaner that would come when it was raining but I got rid of him and got another one who only turns up to do them when it is dry. How long is it before your temperatures start to fall
Good afternnon Lindybird pleased you enjoyed your Chinese meal with friends and had a good chat.
It is cold here today but very sunny so I just put more clothes on although I got dead fingers hanging out yet more washing this morning but I am so pleased I have just about caught up for now. I agree an agency for a laundry fairy would be superb.
Have fun wearing your sun hat and as you say at least you can sit and relax after what seems to have been a very busy time for you both.
Have a good weekend.
Good afternoon Brenda H much, much cooler here in Poole but sunny which is nice. Chilly wind with it to. More layers of clothes for me today. Such a shame about your local gardens/nursery. You would think that in the current financial climate they would be encouraging people to come in and not putting them off with higher prices.
Mum tried that approach with thunderstorms as she loved them but it didn't work and up to the time I left home to get married at 25 I would still go to her when there was a storm. OH likes to go down on the seafront to watch them and has tried many times to get me to go with him but I am afraid it is a lost cause. I would never willingly be out in a thunderstorm. I have been caught in a couple and how I managed not to have hysterics I don't know.
I was up very early today. awake at 4.00 this morning when OH got up to get ready to go to Southampton to catch his flight to Glasgow. Out in the garden before 9.00 dead heading roses and then spraying round up on all the weeds that just keep growing. I think it is going to be quite a harrowing visit for OH. It has come as such a shock to him. I haven't gone as I don't really know him very well and apart from that he is so ill now that too many visitors would be too much for him. OH has been ringing me but as yet have not heard anything about his friend, I expect he will ring me later.
That was very young for your Dad to die and yes indeed your Mum was a young widow.
Hope you have a good weekend.
Meant to say that for all who follow Lily and Hope that Lily is building a new den for the winter. They are hoping to get a live cam set up but it will not be so easy to do. Fingers crossed. It appears likely that Hope will den with Lily too.
Thank you for introducing Fatty to us, OG, he’s sweet. Hope he’s not too heavy to fly LOL. I have at last managed to lose the job of treasurer for my choir, only been doing it for 14 years! It's very hard to get off these things once you're on, as not many people seem to feel the need to give something back.
Tiger, I never imagines you with an Irish accent either, will do from now on.
Congrats to Steed, Emma, will you give him a Yorkie for his lunch? (Rats, Gary has beaten me to it by mentioning Yorkies...)
Lindy, loved your money tree poem. I watched the end of the Tiger programme the other night, and now wish I had watched the whole series. I love Gordon Buchanan. Thanks for the marsh harrier news and for telling about the hat museum. Hope you enjoyed your meal and look forward to hearing about your holiday.
Margo, what next, your OH even does ironing!!! I’m quite lucky, my OH discourages me from doing ironing. He’s a gardener so doesn’t have to have a clean shirt every day, he wears t-shirts and sweatshirts all the time, hates it if I say he has to wear a shirt (which I don’t very often say). Thanks for the Lily/Hope news, and I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday and are already looking forward to the next one.
Hello to everyone else, nearly time for another Chat Thread (again).
