Weekly Chat, Sunday September 5, 2010

Whoops. Got busy with one thing and another and forgot it was Saturday night.  Anyway, will catch up tomorrow. Take care all.

  • Hi everyone.

Considerably dreich morning here, with plenty of rain and glum looking skies.  Only the presence of the garden birds brightens the place up a bit.

Gary:  I'd love to have one of those ice maker dispenser things.  With ice I always find you only have none when it's needed most.

ALICAT:  Glad Capser is okay after his procedure.

Diane:  Thanks for the update on Pete's Pond.  It'd be great if it came back online.

Linda:  Thanks for waving and smiling back! :-)  Hope your weather brightens up.

Alan:  Sorry to hear your SIL had pneumonia.  Hope she makes a speedy recovery.  Brilliant raccoon dog pic!

OG:  Hope you have a nice time at the garden centre.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Lo everyone  !  Oh dear, so sorry, yes, I'm in the middle with the ''long'' dark hair . QW daughter on left and  QW herself on my right..

Alan -Ah, how soul satisfying to see an Osprey on a nest again.  I made Dodd Wood :) .. more on that later as I'm in a tearing hurry at the moment and need to get out. ( I am so very sorry to learn SiL is so poorly - not good news at all. I hope for better news in a day or two and trust she will, little by little, gain her strength back)

Alicat - Fingers crossed that Casper can finally start to get properly well again (and a big hug for you).  Heather - dunno if the 'dinner part'y ' has got off the ground yet but I think it's amazing that you have enough chairs !!!

More lovely pics on the feeders and a Racoon dog ? Jeepers - well, I can see the resemblance.

Well done Joan on snappin' the Pine Marten

Dibnlib don't feel bad about your ability to cope  - it's always like this when one is close to the person. This is why people ''removed'' from the emotion of it all (professionals, nurses and so on) can cope so much better. (a big hug to you too).

Many congrats Terry on your baking achievement  - great stuff !

''The last couple of days seem to have flown in at roughly the rate of a Starling heading for a suet ball.  ''

Big smile Heron - I always enjoy your expressions.

Wonderful news about Pete's Pond, Diane - thank you . And I trust you'll rest up after your efforts at shoving furniture around.

Lindy - the Canary Islands sound like heaven . It's dull and grey and miserable looking here. Hope I get a dry walk into work when the time comes.

Do hope you had a really pleasant lunch at the Garden Centre OG

  • Hi Alicat - I too got Casper's name wrong, so sorry. Strange, because in my head he is 'Casper'. But you know how it is, sometimes the connection between head and fingers goes a bit wonky :-))

  • Morning all ... heavy rain earlier, but now stopped and the sun is trying to come through.

Been a busy morning and now OH says we will go to the Garden Centre .... and have lunch while we are there! My leek and potato soup was wonderful ... we had big bowlfuls with crusty bread yesterday :-)) Seemed more tasy than usual ... I don't know if it was because I hadn't made any for a while, or if it was the neighbour's giant leek that made it so good!

Thanks for all your chat, pics etc.

     Back later ... take care.

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Morning all, not having a great time trying to put a video link on re squirrels at Abernethy.  Will try again now! Link is. www.youtube.com-watchv-8kouTHKN9Nw  Hope this works.

Pretty miserable here wih showers and cloud cover.  Just watching the squirrels again. Aren't they cute.

Like the pic of the racoon dog, Alan.

Link doesn't work, have tried it.  Can anyone suggest how I copy the YouTube link onto this page. Have done it before but have forgotten how to do it  - silly me!  In the meantime will keep trying.

  • Good Morning ALL.  Damp and grey morning. Waiting for a promised sunny interval.

We had a lovely day with our daughter and boyfriend, plus son and his wife, who had already met daughter's boyfriend, so made the occasion rather more relaxed. Our son and his wife are both taking a sabbatical from work and leave next Thursday for a four month trip to China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. They are a well travelled couple between work and holidays, but I think, this could be their  last big holiday before they have a family. They hopefully will enjoy themselves, but I know I will worry when they are going to be away for so long.

Alicat, I am glad to hear Casper is recovering and hope that no more treatment will be needed. So natural for him to be sleepy today.

OG, We got 10 free tete-a-tete bulbs free last week and a pair of secateurs this week. We both have our own favourite secateurs so another set joins the pile in the shed.

Diane, Thanks for the Pete's Pond update. Should you be moving large furniture around?  Please take care.

Alan, Sorry to hear about your S-i-L. She really must have had a bad dose of pneumonia. Thanks for the raccoon dog picture.

Paul, We were upset to find a blue tit with a large red growth around it's beak this morning, looks as if it is dying. We may have to stop feeding the birds for a few weeks.

I will continue later. I started this about half an hour ago and the phone keeps ringing !

  • Brenda just read that your son and his wife are going on a 4month sabatical and visiting far flung places. How marvellous.

Our step-grand-daughter had a gap year and was away for 4/5 months a few years ago and only a couple of years ago had another break and was away for 4 months touring South America with friends before coming home to settle into a new job training to be a solicitor.  It can be a worrying time but also a fantastic time, opening up new horizons and visiting exciting places which you read about.  Do hope they enjoy themselves and try not to worry too much.

Just took these two pics at LOTL - is it a grouse or which bird is it? Any takers?

  • It's a Pheasant (female).   thanks for lovely pic!

  • Just go to take casper for a walk back later
