Whoops. Got busy with one thing and another and forgot it was Saturday night. Anyway, will catch up tomorrow. Take care all.
Afternoon all,
Thanks for all the earlier chat and pic of a Gonk.
Had quite a busy day today. This morning we went to Wilkinsons to get some more nyger seed for the goldfinches. Then we went to the walled garden centre at Elton for a light lunch. After that went home and took Hamish out for his afternoon walk before taking Lady P and her sister to see her other sister in hospital. Then went off to Notcutts garden centre and bought some strawberry plants for next year. While I was there my daughter Lorraine sent me a text to say she had just seen a golden eagle at Kinlochewe. The weather has been great today again with warm sunshine at times although the wind seems to be increasing now.
Re the 0 - 0 victory over Lithuania. Scotland always win its just that they dont always score more goals than the other team.
"Alan- Re the 0 - 0 victory over Lithuania. Scotland always win its just that they dont always score more goals than the other team. " That is sooo funny :-)) How lovely that your daughter saw a golden eagle! There has been a wing-tagged white-tailed eagle seen over the Farne Islands several times recently ... we hope to be up the coast in that direction at some point this week, so will have the binoculars at the ready!!
It has turned out to be another lovely day here after a cloudy start. Friend called for coffee and gossip this morning, and another this afternoon ... so not a lot done today!
Had to water the pots in the garden just now as it has been so dry ... all going to change to wet and windy tomorrow night I gather :-(

Hi All. I do not suppose anyone noticed what moved the stick on the Loch Garten nest today?

Tiger - I didn't actually see the stick being moved, but I was watching at one point, when things were being blown around by a very gusty wind ... so could it have been a gust of wind?
SHEILAFE enjoyed a visit to Duxford about 18 months ago. Next week we plan to go to Battle of Britain air day at RAF Leuchars. Last time we were at an air show there it was Sept 1987 and OH was the SATCO (senior air traffic controller) so a very busy day for all involved. Keep your fingers crossed please that we have a fine day for it. We are staying at a B & B at Cupar the previous night and going to a restaurant we used to visit. It is still run by the same people all these years later and it's reputation has grown and grown (Ostlers Close if anyone is interested). After the air show we will travel on to my Mums who has her 76th birthday on the Sunday.
ALICAT saying RIP to our pets is a dreadful time, but as I have said before remember the wonderful times and also the fact we don't let them suffer. By the looks of your beautiful Casper those days are a good bit off yet.
Think it was OG who mentioned the amazing fish scale sky. Had a senior moment and though I knew there was a term for it I just could not think of it - until this evenings dog walk. Think you would have been looking at what is called a mackeral sky!!!!!!!!
Must stop now for a cup of tea. Must remember to tell you about the great Saturday I had when I have a few hours to spare lots of love and probably good night too
Tiger: Ha!!! I was just getting ready to post that very same question!
Joan: I, too, love watching the sea, and I've been looking for a really good streaming webcam of the ocean. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of sea/beach webcams on the web, but unfortunately, the vast majority of them aren't very good. Most of them are placed to highlight a restaurant, resort, hotel, tourists, etc. rather than a good view of the ocean. I'll try to find us a really nice one that shows the waves, birds, etc. If I find one, I'll post it for you. So far, the best one I've found (in my opinion, anyway) is that Baltic Sea webcam that provides audio and video of the seals (for those who don't know, this is the URL: http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/2926). I do love to hear the seals sing.
OG: Thanks for the Scotland info.
Will catch up with everyone later. Right now, housework awaits. :-((((((((
AQ: Loved that Gonk pic! Memories...
DjoanS Yes that could well be an explanation. It does seem as if one stick may have moved.
Diane I am glad I am not the only one who noticed. I was just taking a last few captures of the nest when I noticed something had changed.
I have just discovered something else too. One can move text around by highlighting it and then moving the cursor.
hope you don't mind if i post these another couple of pics of casper these were taken august this year while on holiday in the lakes

just a brief look-in.
SheilaFE - Black Isle and the dolphins, must have been awe inspiring as you said.
Alicat - Casper looks as gorgeous as ever.
Hope all of you watched Secret Britain tonight. Wonderful scenery going right up from the Borders to the very North taking in the Western Isles, or at least one of them, then back onto the mainland and up to the very top of Scotland. What amazing scenery. I remember some of it when we lived in Scotland all those years back.
We were only there for 2 years with hubbies job but we went round and much as possible. It brought back memories. I have a schoolfriend who lived on the Western side at Achiltibuie and we visited her some years back, Bungalow overlooked the Summer Isles, lovely setting and quite remote. When we left her house, we were directed by her husband to go the single track road at the edge of the Atlantic in parts. Such a wonderful journey through back roads up to Bridge of Spiel and then homeward bound down the East side. What memories
I've spouted on a bit, but the programme brought it all back.
Will say night for now and look in again tomorrow.
