Hallo everyone. Just started this but now off to actually read recent posts!
Oh Dear - sorry to hear that some of our USA friends are threatened with a hurricane. Do hope it passes you by.
Very jealous of Emma Peel enjoying her LG visit - it sounded great, and we would love to have seen a pic of you in your leathers, Emma!
Thanks to OG for more great pics. Welcome to Lynette now joining us on here, don't worry about content, Lynette - as you can see, we talk about anything and everything on here - family, animals, underwear !
Thanks to Wattle for great pic of the Galah. auntie - glad you enjoyed 'Tosca' - I would love to see it live, have only seen it on TV. Thanks to Annette for pics of her journey across the States: it really does look hot. Glad you both got home in one piece and still speaking to each other! - when we are hot and tired, we usually have a few short words.
Hope that dibnlib have sorted problems with their connection, and that your health probs are short lived, too.
Never heard of "sea frets" - will have to go back & read that bit again!
Very tired now, will go & get a cup of cocoa and go to bed before I fall down. Have a Good September, everyone.
Unknown said:Lynette – good that you can get some exercise swimming – I can’t swim and walking is very limited (used scooter quite a lot yesterday) so I get hardly any exercise. I am lucky that I can still do a bit in the garden (not too much at once) and get some fresh air that way.

Hi Lynette - I think the sunrise pics were on Update of 19th August ... that's the date on my copies! If not it was the day before that.
EDIT - great to see you back on here Gary! No comment about the 'simple man' bit on the grounds that it might incriminate me :-)
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Thanks Joan. I've been called a lot worse so don't hold back:))
It is true though, that "we" don't multi task at all well. All the guys I know say that, and so do the wives...
Happy Birthday for yesterday Lindy, Italian is my favourite, did you keep any for me?
Gary – great to see you made it back (I saw you creeping in). Someone (Lindybird?) mentioned an osprey book the other day that someone else had mentioned by David Gessner so I’ve just been looking on Amazon, and it’s about Cape Cod, so as soon as you said that I knew you would have seen osps : ))
OG – yes, geese, must plan trips round in your direction before next February!
The ISS is up here again at the moment so we were out at 10 to watch, but it was a bit of a damp squib tonight, thin layer of cloud up to quite high. Yesterday was excellent though, so I shall keep looking. Then I had to catch up on here. Hi to everyone I haven’t mentioned
Terry in Cumbria
LOL Terry:) I'll have to look out for that book. I think there is a long history of ospreys there as all the locals were surprised i was making a fuss about seeing them. One pair has made their nest on a radio mast which is now part of a museum. It was huge.
Have a great Thursday everyone.
I have missed 2 days and what a lot I’ve missed. A belated Happy Birthday Linda. I love the poppies you received!! Arrrgh lost posts. I wonder where all our words go. Is there a place in some other world where our lost posts are whirling around?
Lynette & Alan - Our TV gives us an edited version of the Ed Tattoo on New Years Eve. Having seen the space where held, I am amazed how they manage all those manoeuvres.
Delaying reading blog means I get answers to my questions and I don’t have to admit I have never heard of a ‘sea fret’ LOL. Have heard of ‘haar’ in books.
The first day of spring yesterday & the weather dropped to a cool drizzly 14 C. We went out last night for our ‘August’ dinner, deferred from last week when it was too horribly blustery to venture out. A small friendly French bistro. I looooove all that decadent cream & butter . . . I had veal casserole, tender chunks of veal & lots of veg in a delicious gravy, topped with pastry. And will you have tourte with that? Yes of course - potato, onion & bacon topped with more pastry. Followed by profiteroles. Himself had French onion soup, porterhouse steak & crepes suzette. (Where does he put it?) http://www.bistrofrance.com.au/
Himself looked at car tyres & said they would do for ages yet. Phew! I don’t need any more expense just now (or anytime). Lawn man is now a week late. Here is a pic of our front lawn blooming with soursobs (a weed).
Hi all:
OG: Saw the fire caused by the golfer - it made the last few seconds of the national news this evening! A haar? Oh my, the things we learn on here.
Djoan: Ah, okay - a sea fog - thanks! Funny, today I took myself off to Refugio State Park - a marvellous little cove lined with palm trees and backed by hills where people camp and hike. I've promised myself a day there for ages and today was the day - and guess what! - we had fog too. It's a summer phenomenon too and typically burns off by mid-to-late mornings but today It sat on the beach all day! It wasn't cold, but not what I'd had in mind. Still managed to read and nap - lovely crashing surf and no crowds.
Heron: Sunshine in the west of Scotland! Hurray! My sister and bro-in-law are spending the week in Oban and were hoping for dry, if not warm weather. Can you please arrange to have it last until Saturday? Cute little squirrel; wonder what it is about certain creatures that they're so engaging - penguins, meercats, squirrels....
Emma: Wow! Remind me not to park any cars at Edinburgh airport. And yes, the world has gone mad. I remember egg cosies - what a hoot. I saw a note on the main blog from Gary who said he's been away for a few days. Ah! Speak of the devil....
Gary: Always nice to see you whenever you can make it. Wow. BigRab with a new baby? Shan't expect to see him for - um - a few years? Let's hope the hurricane weakens significantly by the time it gets that far north. We were watching folks on the evening news who'd decided to "ride it out." I interviewed the head of the hurrican center at NOAA some years back and those folks get very frustrated with people who refuse to evacuate.
Lindybird: Birthday dinner sounds just wonderful - how did you manage to cram all that in! Talking of Emily Dickinson, there's a new book out - Lives Like Loaded Guns: Emily Dickinson and her family's feuds, which I have on hold at the library.
Lynette: I'm sure someone will clue you in re sunrise pix of LG - it's a skill I should work on for next year.
AQ: I think our lost words make up that background noise that radio telescopes pick up from deep space: "Blather, blather, osprey...blather, blather, EJ....fish.....Noisy Boots....Blather, blather....Tescos...." What a wonderful meal! Profiteroles - with chocolate? I'd give up the lawn and grow soursobs Iwe call it oxalis) if I were you.
Just did the ironing! Hurray. Now off to rummage in the fridge for some chocolate.
Hi everyone.A pleasant morning here, with the sun gently lighting up the area. Had a very nice opening the blinds moment when I opened the living room blinds. A lovely wee Robin was perched on the gate and was calling away. I know some people have a guard dog but at least a guard Robin make a better noise. Must've seen at least 20 House Sparrows when the birds started having their breakfast.Emma: I'm quite stunned at the cost of £2 for 15 minutes parking in Edinburgh. I know us folk from the west of Scotland make jokes about Edinburgh folk being a bit miserly but that really takes the biscuit. Just to prove us west coasters aren't too far behind in the mean stakes, I'd have bartered. LOLHeatherB: Sunshine's in the post. If it doesn't arrive feel free to phone up the Met Office, and issue a rant.Gary: Great to see you back here. I'll admit I didn't post much on the Weekly Chat during the Osprey season. I suppose it just a guy thing, I'll admit I'm not good at multi-tasking. Glad you had a great time at Cape Cod and saw a few Ospreys.OG: Your weather sound pretty much the same as ours. Love the description of the fish scales cloud. Perhaps it is nature's way of telling the late Ospreys it's time to start heading south.Linda: Your birthday meal sounds very nice. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm starting to feel hungry now, so must see what appears when I open the fridge, and cupboard doors. I think I'll boil a couple of eggs. "The Poetry of Birds" sounds a great book.TerryM: Hope the skies clear up and you get a good night for watching the ISS.AQ: Glad you enjoyed your 'August ' dinner. The veal casserole sounds great. Oh no now I'm feeling really hungry. LOLAnnette: I'll do my best to arrange the sunshine to last until Saturday. Although those eejits at the UK Met Office can be a bit stingy. LOLJust had a check on the eggs situation. Only one left :-( Oh well better than none.A very Happy Thursday to everyone. :-)
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Hi Everyone: Another day without rain! Hooray! I'm off in a minute to see what I can stuff into the washing machine....
Hope you enjoyed your one egg, Paul! I have visions of you wondering what to eat....
Thanks to AQ for pic of the soursobs - they are so pretty!
Expect margobird is busy packing now, as not long till she's off to Cornwall - good luck with those last minute things, margo! And hope you have a lovely time there, I'm sure you will. Do tell us all about the Minack Theatre afterwards, it sounds just great. (I love G & Sullivan, such fun)
I'm dashing off again, but have a good day, All.
