Hi, it was a day of misery for the two chicks. With EJ gone and it looks like Odin has gone too, there were no deliveries of fish yesterday.
Nature is playing its part. It is time the two juves went fishing for themselves or else start on their migratory journey. Odin has obviously felt it is time to kick start these two into foraging for themselves. If confirmed he is gone by the LG team it will be about the same time as last year.
The weather sounds foul at LG at the moment so hope they are sheltering safely somewhere.
Only time and a new day will tell us what is happening.
Over to the early morning team and thanks to all of you in California, Australia, Finland, and elsewhere for keeping us updated.

Both on the nest
Later...... JSB - hope the work goes well.
Good captures, Cirrus.
I hope they don't start to migrate today. The forecast for the South is for gales and heavy rain again tomorrow.

Tiger Would this year not have been too soon for her to be back? (I try to be the eernal optimist!)

You go and fetch a fish.
No! You go.
No, you're braver than me.
No, you're oldener than me.
Morning all. I have kept an eye on the exchanges and occasionally be able to watch over the past four days and join you all in feeling extremely sad on the imminent departure of 'our' youngsters and to listen to the plaintiff calling for food. This morning's view of a wet LG adds to the picture. But it is the life of osprey and we must marvel that they have reached this stage in their short lives let alone migration. My picture had frozen on ENS so I was delighted to see the recent photos! I would have missed their presence so thank you! Titch has just gone to the nest camera post and I think is still there, leaving our lovely Quackers alone. Down here (Cambs/Essex border) we had a wet and at times extremely windy day yesterday, and today it is forecast to be even more windy. So perhaps a trip to Rothiemurchus Fish Farm would be the better option for now.... cummon, you can do it. Oh such a lonely sight at the moment. Thank you also to JSB for the update. This is such a handy document to keep within reach.

Oh, Brenda - I've only just caught up with your post ! So, abysmal weather here and not much better tomorrow further south. How depressing. For the juveniles - how will they mangage to fish if they do leave tomorrow . Sigh. But then, I suppost they won't get down the length of the country in one day. Gottcha - it's OK if they migrate tomorrow (if it's dry) - by the time they are much further south the weather will be better. I hope.

Not at all. Of the ospreys we have ever seen returning almost all of then show up in the second year. If you check the Rutland diary for 30th April you will see that 05 (08) made its first return then. See http://www.ospreys.org.uk/News.html
That is why I am expecting Rothes and Garten to return next year. Also the Roy Dennis tracked Rothiemurchus!
