Hi folks,
Wasn't around for most of the day but found out I hadn't missed much. Just two hungry osps waiting all day for a meal which never came. Thanks to you all for your posts and pics yesterday.
It looks increasingly likely that EJ has begun her migration as she has not been seen since early on Saturday morning according to official sources.
Time is running out for us all for this year, I wonder how many more days before Odin leaves and then the juves will have to go if they are to survive and learn to fish on their way to fresh pastures new....sighhhhhhhhhh
Over to the early morning crew - keep us going. Night, Night.

Awww, doesn't this look sad! Both standing waiting.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
-- both look up at a plane going over - another intruder????
Both waiting expectantly, One beginning to chirp
"Well, this is no time for a pedicure, you know!" "Join me in shouting for Fish!"
One by himself, other has flown off.
And as I posted, he flew off.

I'm Blah cos of all the Ospreys leaving us Lindy. I'm sure Odin will go today. Thank you, the weekend was splendid
Cirrus: "I'm sure Odin will go today" --- Boo Hoo!!
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the updates and pics. Well it would seem like EJ is on her long journey to Africa, and perhaps Odin is away too. Can't believe how quickly the season's flown by. Two GEMs on the nest when Iogged on a few minutes ago but they quickly flew off.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
I am reminded of this lovely story from 2004 of the osprey Bluebeard and a chick who was not too good at learning to fish. But at least he was trying.
16 Sept.. Bluebeard is a truly devoted father. His young has apparently not figured out how to catch fish reliably. He heads off to hunt and returns wet but fishless. He then sits on the nest screaming for food, which Bluebeard is still bringing to him. It's not terribly late for a male to still be around the breeding grounds (some don't head south until early October), but it is late for a young not to be catching its own fish. This one may not have much of a future in the gene pool.
