  • Caroline also said intruder close overhead that 'tried' to land on the nest....then Odin came to the rescue. Looking at my clip again what do you all think? Intruder on nest or Odin?

  • Our Daily blog for the 14th approx 8am.

    By Barbara Jean:

    7.51am

Eldest ( I think) just  arrived  scrounging for  bits .  There are none .  Middle flew off

Eldest is  unhappy there aren't even any scraps and is screeching his displeasure .

Taking out his frustration by tossing  twigs

Cirrus,  maybe this is  Middle and the one  who finished EJ's   fish was  Titch. But he was so  quiet as the  ate I didn't think it was Titch Who knows.??

    EN

    8.10am

A  partially  eaten, but large  fish was delivered It looked like EJ brought it  . I think Titch (?) has it. He  is  yelling at it and very frustrated as he  drags it around the nest . Another  chick on the nest  just  preening

I do not think it was Odin but far more importantly the chick did not think it was Odin. Unless he was giving his dad a row for not bringing any fish.

  • In the first place the chick's reaction clinched it for me too. Yes 'fish frustration' also crossed my mind and the chick was very jittery.

Still inclined to think this was the intruder though.

  • Thanks for the clip, Chloe. Didn't look like Odin to me and, as Tiger said, the youngster didn't think it was him either.

Regarding EJ leaving, I was going to put a post up yesterday saying that traditionally EJ delivers an early fish before her departure and yesterday she delivered one each to the remaining youngsters. I didn't post it as I reckoned she would never start her migration in the gale that was blowing in the morning. If she has gone I hope she wasn't blown off course.

  • Hi gary it wasn't me who took those tray bakes haven't been to lg this year i think caroline has got me mixted up with someone else

  • So where is all this "Dad shows the chicks how to fish?"  It seems that hunger is going to be the only teacher that these chicks are ever going to have!

  • Read with interest that EJ hasn't been seen today.....  can she really have gone already?  Do wish we knew for sure what was going on with these migrations.
